SOURCE: replaced color ink cartridges

Do a print head alignment. This will tell the printer there's a new cartridge.

Remove the cartridges and cover the small windows on them with a small piece of duct tape to fit it(only on the window). Reinstall them and it will be fixed!

SOURCE: Machine won't print in black when colour cartridges empty

it is possible to print with only one cartridge that has ink as long as you take a piece of black tape and cover the front center of the empty cartridge and placing it back into the machine .you need to cover the clear plastic in center. Also to take off the power from on the machine press and hold power button for a few sec

Claims the yellow cartridge is empty, when it is new and will not print in color

Reinstall the Printer driver, Run the program to clean the writing head of the printer, and check for the difference to be seen. If still not resolved, try to run a printer check which will plot all combination of colors and will tell you the problem with the printer. Meanwhile let me ask you if there is any error message shown while printing or after the printing ?

Put in a compatible red ink cartridge but no red ink printed. Can't put in the original cartridge in to verify the printer as it is detected as empty. However, for other colors that I replaced with same...

So, is the new cartridge "compatible", or is it not as compatible as they claim?

Try a "genuine" replacement cartridge.

Start the software that came with the printer.
There is a "ink-jet test" utility, and a "head-cleaning" utility.
Run each of them, to see if anything is "clogged".

HP 6180 with a persistent empty yellow cartridge

Problem fix step by step:

1) Remove all ink cartridges, not just the affected cartridge. Close the doors and the access door.
2) Unplug printer without powering it down.
3) Plug in printer while holding down the # key and the number 6 key simultaneously. DO NOT RELEASE THEM! The printer will start up and then after a few seconds shut down.
4) Press the "On" button
5) Reinsert all ink cartridges.
6) Send me thank you notes. I spent hours on chat with HP support until we got the correct fix!

Xerox Phaser 6110 claims new toner cartridge is empty

Could be many things...depends on the exact nature of the problem. Where the machine states "Invalid Toner" either the machine itself or the toner cartridge may be the wrong "region". i.e. has been sold in the wrong country..the initial toners will work but as soon as you put new ones in they will give this message. If the machine is still displaying "out of toner" then either the toner cart itself is faulty (assuming they are original Xerox carts) or the Image Unit could be faulty (the bit they plug into). Failing that, it will be a faulty Main PCB. The Toners on these have a crum chip, so they cannot be just re-filled and some that may seem "compatable" will not work either.....

Ink Cartridge Settings

Have you tried Canons FAQ? They suggest checking the grayscale box, which apparently only works with certain kinds of printing (duplexing and borderless will still use colors). I don't understand how colored inks are used to create black, but that's what they claim. Anyway, here's the link: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=257&modelid=11641
