Question about Casio Exilim EX-Z40 Digital Camera
When I turn on the camera, the language setup along with the date and time set-up appears. I have to reset it everytime I turn it on. How do I stop that from happening?

OK, here's the fix. This camera has internal flash memory that is used to store settings and can be used for limited picture storage. Its use for saving setting is essential, however. If this gets corrupted then the camera won't save settings. Whoever said to format the internal memory had the right idea.
After much experimentation here's how. Remove your SD memory from the camera and turn it on. This will force it to run on the internal memory only. Run through the time/date/location setup again. It will complain about the memory card. Ignore this and press menu. Under Setup, select format. Choose format memory card and do it. This will format the internal memory. Once it is done, turn the camera off and back on. You'll notice that the problem is gone and it has remembered your last setup.
BTW, my camera is a EX-Z75. Not sure there is a Z57 model.

Your problem does not lye on any memory card. it is because the internal battery that helps the cmos "cameras internal memory" hold its settings has gone out and needs tobe replaced. all you need is 2 1.5 volt hearing aid batteries stacked and taped +-+- and soldiered in place of the old cmos battery. witch is located on the front side bottom close to the bottom left of the lens. and placed next to the speaker. get some small batteries to do this het smaller the better for placement location.Hope this helps I have done this to a few camera's and it works fine.

i have the same problem too, i think i pointed where the cmos battery is but i am not sure if it is the battery or not. when u open the door it should be to the right. it is not accessible til you open the camera. again im not sure if that is the battery. once i comfirmed. ill buy a broken one on ebay and swap it out.

Set the date and time at least once... if it still keeps coming up when you change the batteries the back up battery/capacitor has failed... my old kodak does that so i know the frustration but it's still a good camera
