After changing a video board on our set, we get power to the tv but the picture and sound do not come on. What do we need to do?

We had a cable box freeze that caused our picture to go blackish. We had sound and could see the picture a little. We replaced video board and closed up tv. Power light is on but no sound or video.

Sounds like what happens after the POP. Mine POPPED then went veryfaded for 5 seconds then nothing. Upon turning back on it blinks green4 times then back to red off.

This is a poor manufacturing defect. Visit this forum for more information on the issue.

The best way for TV repair is the right service manual.
A Service Manual for your TV will have all of the Diagrams, Schematics,
Parts lists, and how to disassemble the TV.

    I suggest buy it: Service-Manual Z50PX2D

If the model number is incorrect, you can find one over the internet by
    searching with the model number.

Did you verify it was the videoboard that was bad? They're plenty or other factors that determine video up and being a bad board. Components like resistors, capacitors, diodes and even power supplys can kill the video. This is not an over the net question. It has to be taken to the shop and diagnossed at the component/board level to determine what's not working....

My zenith plasma tv popped real loudlike a car backfiring and then the tv picture went black. power on green light wil turn on but it automatically cuts itself back off to the red light

There's an over current fault in the power supply or the Y-sustain convergence board. The loud pop was either a capacitor or pico-fuse breaking from excessive current overload. Sounds like 2 or 3 mosfets have shorted at the gate ends. Plasma TV's always have this problem because they generate too much heat and the components cant take the load conditions. Make your next TV an LCD...

To fix this problem have your local repair shop do it for you.....

any questions please ask.....

Check your input connections, especially the HDMI (if in use). I have found through personal experience that the weight of the cable and any small vibration can be enough to loosen the connection and leave you a blank screen. The manufacturers would have been smarter to have all the inputs face toward the floor at the bottom of the set (like the power cord). Anyone who has mounted their set to the wall will understand what I am saying.
That being said, you may be better off saving your money and buying a new LCD TV. The Zenith sets have proved to be a ticking bomb. If you Google "pop" and "z50px2d" you will read a number of posts on various boards that indicate that the Zenith plasmas have about a 2 year life expectancy before they are in need of some very expensive service. And frequently even after they are serviced are prone to further failure.
Someone pointed out to me not to long ago a valid fact: LCD technology has been around since the pocket calculator and therefore much less prone to unexpected failure than the relatively new plasma technology. I just wish someone had told me that 2 years ago when I ponied up $3000 for my Zenith z50px2d that blew out a few days ago.
