Unable to install Realtek ALC888 drivers on MSI P35 Neo M/B

Hi to the experts. When I "install" the Realtek drivers, they don't show up on the Control Panel. The Sound Devices don't show installed hardware and the Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager has a yellow icon for the Realtek and it says : This device cannot start. Code 10.
I am using Win XP SP 2
Core 2 Duo
Sapphire Radeon 2400 Video
2 Gb Ram Kingston
I would really appreciate some suggestions on a fix

Hi Tom19511. Yes. My XP is only configured for one user so I am the administrator.

Hi Tom19511. Sorry, nope, tried in Safe mode as well. I have loaded the latest drivers from the Realtek site as well as all patches / drivers from Microsoft. Makes no difference.

Hi Tom. Yes I disabled the device in BIOS, unistalled it, re-enabled it in BIOS and re-installed the drivers - nothing - no change.

Try this:
Right click on the realtek icon, uninstall the hardware, scan for hardware changes, reboot.

If that doesnt work get new drivers here and install.

please let me know how you make out.

    Are you installing as administrator?

    Try installing under safe mode.

In that case you may want to get an add-on card and use that. Apparently the onboard sound is bad.

Another thought, do you have it enabled in the BIOS?

I recently formatted my pc through a computer shop.the problem is the person in charge has no cd installer for the audio. He also does not know where to search in the internet for the audio installer.Please...

The audio controller on that motherboard is manufactured by Realtek.

Click on the link that I have provided below which will take you to MSI's support website, choose your operating system (XP, Vista or Win 7) and then download the audio drivers for the motherboard. I also suggest that you download all the drivers for the motherboard and save them to a flash drive or CD just in case you have to reinstall the operating system again.

Tell the guy at the shop to invest in a universal driver disk as that will no doubt solve many of his driver problems.

Most burner software will only allow one burn at time. It has nothing to do with how many drives you have. If you had two differant types of burner software you might be able to burn 2 DVD's at the same time.
