Usually they are there for bot up purposes. depending on the manufacturer of the computer and motherboard they do different things. you don't use them in day to day computing.

My motherboard booting keys is not working.Like f1,f2,f8,f10,f11 and f12 also is not working.so what i do??

Hello, Do you mean your Keyboard? If those pf keys aren't working either power down pc and reseat the keyboard connection or replace the keyboard.
Without knowing or seeing exactly what you are trying to do, it is very hard to diagnose, you will need to take in too a repair shop and show them and they can help and fix. Sounds like maybe you have bios settings that aren't right or motherboard is bad.

How to identify function key on emachines keyboard

No that's the Windows key

For a desktop computer keyboard, keys F1 through F12 are the Function keys. No Fn key needed.

For a laptop computer hold the Fn key down, then tap once on the F1 through F12 keys

Details of what everything means on my keyboard

Each key represents a character. Many of the keys have a 2nd output if you hold the shift key. You can also find hidden characters if you hold alt and press some of the numbers on the number pad.

F1 - F12 do special things depending on what program is open.

During gameplay i am requested to use a number from f1 - f12 and the f1 through f12 are occupied by keys that change the laptop settings. how do i move the settings or get rid of them?

Function keys(F1-F12) are hard coded and cannot be changed.
Some keys simply just never get to Windows. In the case of most Fn keys, they are interpretted by the hardware and never get passed onto the OS, no matter how they appear to work... if Windows doesn't see the key, there's no way for the key to be remapped by Windows.

If your gameplay is asking for a Function key -, it must be written in the software.
You may need to call the software vendor.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

Function keys F1 thru F12 don't work

Keyboard might have gone bad. Try hooking up a external keyboard and see if they work. If they don't then you have a motherboard issue. If they do then it is a keyboard issue. If you lucky it is just a keyboard then you can get one here for 20 bucks.
