Question about Computers & Internet

In your 1960s manual you describe Wiring Devices which lists all the parts for low voltage installations for the home and small businesses.I installed a low voltage system in my home in 1960 which is still in service today. To date, everything is still working. I'm thinking of selling my home and want to be able to tell the buyer where parts can be found. I visited the local GE supplier and they still have some of the parts, such as the transformer and the relays. They tried through GE Supply to find me the Selenium Rectifier Cat.No. RA-9 (SELENIUM RECTIFIER HAS 7-INCH LEADS) BUT GE SUPPLY has to record of this part. Any suggestios? Might retirees have a hobby of saving old parts?

I am providing a very good web site (link provided)for you to look through. I have personally had a job or two troubleshooting a low voltage system for a customer. It is not easy and requires some good meter skills to say the least. The Selenium rectifier you mention is nothing more than a DC power supply for the low voltage relays the system uses. The whole premise of the low voltage control was the master control panel. This offered a home owner (in a large home) the ability to control all the lighting in the home from the master panel location. Now days, with all the new technology, companies like Lutron have RadioRa which does the same thing with radio frequency controlled switches throughout the home. Read the info I sent and you will get a clear picture of the old style 'low voltage system'.

Which are the disadvantages of taking small business loans from banks?

Getting a bank loan is not easy, and its disadvantages include:
  • Lengthy application process
  • Cumbersome
  • Preference given to existing, running businesses
  • Long list of prerequisites to qualify for the loan
  • Risk of losing Collateral
  • Entire amount not granted
These are the disadvantages of taking a business loan.If you using some financing company for taking a loan it will be very beneficial because they have low formalities and short application process for small business loans. So it will be more helpful for taking a loan from finance company rather than other bank loans.

What Qualifies As A Small Business?

The word "small business" can be and it is described in several ways such as total assets, total revenue and/or quantity of employees. One truth is certain... there's no agreed-upon, recognized definition for which qualifies as a small business.

The SBA defines small business within certain parameters the nation's Federation of Independent Business uses different parameters and also the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council uses yet different parameters. Given these various parameters, it's been mentioned that roughly 99% of companies within the United States become qualified as "smaller businesses".

Need wiring schematic for Wesco Model 2100 Electric Furnace (wiring diagram)

A electric heater has heat strip/s
a switch and 2 thermal limiting devices, 1 auto resetting, the other not resettable or serviceable by the user, tending to not be an economically viable option.
There are 2 hot legs of power and an earth/ground wire feeding any home or most businesses, every wire in every unit is either 1 of the 2 coming in to the building, Line 1 and Line 2.

Now if you know the sequence of operation and can recognize the components, thus locate them and are familiar with each as to what terminal is what, there is no need for a wiring diagram to tell you that 2 legs of power feed each load, be it high, low voltage, AC or DC polarity.
Every circuit requires 2 sides/legs of power Line 1 and Line 2.
Beginning on Line 1 go through the switch, to the load/device,
and from the device/load we return to the opposite side/leg of power from which we began.
Now if you do not know this and do not recognize the components thus cannot locate them other than tediously following both legs of power all over to where you know it must be anyways! as the unit in no way resembles a wiring diagram I see no use for a wiring diagram for those who know or do nor know the trade.

Leviton Decora PIR Wall Switch Sensor won't work in auto when the garage when it's hot

Heat is the enemy of electricity, especially electronics.
The public doesn't understand how global warming is going to affect electrical devices including your phone, timers, detectors, and all electrical power.

If you research operational temperatures for small electronic devices, the upper range is usually 105-120 degrees F. Some can operate up to 135 degrees F, and will fail in higher temperatures because the circuit board, chip and parts are made to withstand certain temperature tolerances.
High temperature hardened devices cost more than typical box store electronic device.

There can also be a low temperature range that affects batteries and rechargeable batteries inside devices that have display properties.

Back to high heat: Electronics are limited by high heat.

Electrical transmission along power lines is limited because of high heat. Long distance transmission is high voltage and low amperage to reduce heat caused by high amperage.
(Super conductive materials, that allow limitless transmission without loss, must be at very low temperatures (absolute zero, etc))

And then at your house, the high voltage low amperage power line is changed to lower voltage high amperage at the transformer before it enters your home.
If you get serious electrical shock, you will get burned because electricity is Hot. The power line in electrical circuit is called the Hot line. So electricity is all about heat.

Unrelated to electronics, but related to global warming: Even gas water heaters inside hot attic will lose the pilot light because the heat pushes air molecules farther apart, making it harder to breathe, and causing the pilot flame not to have enough oxygen to support combustion.
People should consider if we will be able to make small fires if global temperatures get hot enough. Water-Heaters.pdf

This means the short-term solution to your electronic problem is to open a window slightly in the garage.
Better yet is to install natural ventilation.
Install a vent(s) on the wall, down low along floor on shaded side of garage. Then install another vent(s) on wall near ceiling, or install a vent pipe to roof.
The combination of high-and-low vent will cause a natural flow of air through the garage. This is the same principle used to ventilate an attic.

Central vac won't turn off unless we unplug

Some units have an on/off switch on the power unit itself. Check to make sure that is not turned on. Unplug your power unit and remove the 2 low voltage wires (not the power cord itself) . The low voltage wires start at the unit and run throught your home and attach to each hose inlet. They are usually attached to the unit by simple wire terminals or wire capped to small wires coming out. Just unlug the terminals or unscrew the wire caps and pull the connections apart. Plug your machine back in. If it still comes on the problem is the relay or circuit board/switch/ relay assembly inside the unit. If it doesn't come on with the low voltage wires unattached then you may have two wires touching somewhere in the low voltage wiring.
