Question about NorStar T7208 Corded Phone

1 Answer

Trying to switch the extension number.

We have a main phone T7316E that uses as system coordinator to change names etc for the new staff and they use T7208. We had this staff that just came back from maternity, so we want to switch this phone's extension # from 001 to 002 which was her ext#. We changed the extension on T7316E but when trying to transfer a call to ext 002, it could not get thru, it has a message that says ext not in service.

We tried adding back the mailbox, and change ext # from 001 to 002. With T7208, it doesn't allow access to Feature 983. Is there a way to activate the extension so it could receive transfer calls?

Thanks,

that sounds a little confusing, how did you change ext 001 to 002(on the console?) also where was 002 before you started?

On the newer norstar systems the T7208 and lower phones can not be used for programming. The T7316e phone has to be used for programming therefore feature 983 will only work on the T7316e set.To change local dn's you have to go into config programming and to change dn old dn then new dn.

I want to change the name with my extension (with Feature 983) but when I enter my extension it says Mailbox not valid even if it's the good one! What can I do?

General Mailbox is mailbox 100 and often behind reception (ex221)

When you do change the name from GD make sure to do last name first and press # twice to insert comma then spell first name.

My MBOX is locked on my T7316E Nortel phone. Also, trying to retrieve messages from home I somehow changed the password and I don't know what it is.

Feature 983 log in is 120000 (if 2 digit extension, 1020000 if 3 digit, 10020000 if 4 digit extensions)
Select Mbox, enter that locked extensions mail box number, You will see password RESET. Select RESET. Release out. This will reset that mail box password to 0000. Use feature 981 on that phone and enter the new default password of 0000. you will then be prompted to change the password.

Feature 985 will show you your mailbox extension
