Re: keyboard

It sounds like you're disc is starting to fill up (C Drive) You could possibly need more ram or reformat your computer (start it from scratch)

I cannot connect to the WFC because it needs the ip adress and the connection fails

Click start type cmd press enter you will be in DOS mode
type in ipconfigpress enter you will see all of your internet connection details type in your default gateway ip adress into your internet search should read something like

Your IP Address should be thought more as your computer's phone number than it's address, if you have multiple connections, you have multiple IPs if you dont have a connection, you dont have an IP.

Without further delay If you need your computers IP address:
This will work in almost every case, it simply requests the website's server to tell you what your IP is.
I have included a link to make things easier.

If you are in a network and need your computers local address.
Hold the windows button (looks like the windows banner, usually between left ctrl and left alt) and press 'R'.

A box will display, and type in "cmd.exe" and hit enter.
The 'command prompt' will display, a black screen with white lettering.
Simply type in ipconfig. This gives information on all your internet connections.

Look for the line "IPv4 Address".
If you need to find the IP of a current connection you can type (from the command prompt) "netstat".

This will give you all your current connections.
To identify a specific one, the easiest way is to run it before you establish the connection then again afterwards.
Change IP Addresses

Your IP address is a series of numbers that identify your specific computer on the Internet.
If, for some reason, you want to change your IP address, you can do so without going into the command prompt.Click "Start," "Control Panel," "Network and Internet" and "Network and Sharing Center."

Click "Change adapter settings."
Right-click the network you want to change and click "Properties."

Click the "Networking" tab.

Put a check either next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) or Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click "Properties."

Click the radio button next to Obtain an IP Address Automatically if you want Windows to assign one, or click "Use the following IP address" to manually change it.

Enter the requested information and click "OK."

When i type in the into my web browser i just get search results and not a screen with user name and password so i cannot get any further.

THat can mean 3 things

that the router's ip address has changed
The router has lost it's connectivity or lastly
There may be a reset that was performed with the settings of the router,eg : the Encryption key may have been changed and your computer is off the router network.

For Windows:
Press the button with a window symbol on it (from the keyboard)
as well as the letter R at the same time.
A run window will open type in "CMD"
NOW in the black window that opens type in ipconfig and click on the enter button on the keyboard and you scroll through the window page you will get a default gateway that will be your router address if it's or then in the same window type in ipconfig /release(ipconfig ,a space and then release)
wait for about 5 minutes and then type in ipconfig /renew(ipconfig, a space and then renew).
Now type in ipconfig and you should get your default gateway(the ip address) of the printer

Do you have internet explore ip address. it starts 192"?

what do you mean by internet explore ip?? just your computers IP?? or your routers IP??
normally the IP would be 192.168.0.XX submask is 255.255.2550
but if you just need to know your ip for now just go to START>RUN and type CMD that will open command prompt ( quick way is windows sign on keyboard + R ) to open RUN
once in CMD you type ipconfig then you'll see your IP adress, subnet mask and default gateway. hope this helps

WRV54G Linksys router right out of box setup and for 5 min no prob then...hell broke loose neither computer had internet access(2 comps and an iTouch) connected via bypassing router and worked fine...

Do you have DSL or cable? Try resetting your router. Press the reset button on the back of the router and hold it it for about 5 seconds. When the router comes back up type in the router address: If your ISP is using cable, make sure that you have DHCP enabled. If DSL, you will have to put in your username and password given to you by your ISP and you will have to enable PPPOE on your router.

Password setting not going

Hello there.

You need to give the correct IP address to connect to your router through your web browser. is most likely your Vista PC's IP address, not the D-Link router.

To find out what IP address to type into the web browser please do the following:

1) Press the "Windows" key + "R" on the keyboard, at the same time.
2) Type "cmd" without quotes in the run box and click "ok"
3) Type "ipconfig" without quotes.

Notice it says Default Gateway followed by an IP address, this is your router's IP.

Hope this helps.

Software problem

There is usually an IP address you have to type to get access to this hardware. Often you don't need the CD to install this hardware. The IP address is usually for routers. Sometimes they differ. To find out if you go to start then run. When a box appears type in there cmd then press enter on your keyboard. This should bring you to DOS. Black page with white text. If you type into that box ipconfig and then press enter on your keyboard. The IP address you see net to the default gateway is your router address. Writed down those numbers and that box you are in just type the word exit and press enter on your keyboard and that box will disappear.Type that IP address into your address bar by opening up your browser. This will bring you to the hardware page of your router. You can do all the confguring from this page. Sometimes a box with user name and password appears. The username is usually admin and the password is either password, admin or these is no password so you just press enter on your keyboard and then when you're in start configuring. Run the setup wizard first before you do anything else. Then I would go to wireless and password protect your network. I usually password the router as well. This option is in the setup wizard you did earlier. Good luck

ok if you log into the router you can make adjustments in there. If you're unsure of it's IP address then you can find it by going to start then to run. A box should appear where you type in cmd Once you press enter on your keyboard after typing that you should see DOS appear, Black backround with white text. Once you're in there type this as you see it ipconfig then press enter on your keyboard. You should see an IP address next to default gateway. Grab a pen and write those numbers down. It may even be Once you've written down those numbers type in exit in that same box and it should disappear. Those numbers that you wrote down should then be typed into the address bar once you open up your browser. This should take you to your router. If it asks for a password and user name, you should type in the username bit admin and the password will be either admin, password or there won't be a password so you'd leave that bit blank and then press enter on your keyboard. If none of these work then you'll have to reset the router by holding in the reset button at the back of the router for about 30 seconds. This should take it back to the factory default settings. Once you've done that turn off the router for about 10 seconds and turn it back on. Once you've done that then retype that IP address that you wrote down earlier. The reset may have reset the IP address so you may have to go back to start and do the cmd thing again and the ipconfig thing in DOS again. If the router IP address has changed then you'll see it next to the default gateway text. Then do the 192.whatever in the address bar once you've opened up your browser. Then type in admin in the username bit and either password, admin or leave it blank. Then you can reconfgure your router in the basic setup. Once you've done that, click on the word wireless and put the dot in the wpa psk section. That way you can type your own password in there but it must consist of 8 characters or more. Also make sure that you have your router set to either g or b or both so that if you add a wireless g card to another computer on your network if you have one as the cards also come in wireless b. Once you apply or save your settings, the router should restart or acknowledge the settings. Then go back to your laptop and change the password when the wireless signal has been recognised and put in the new password you created. I hope this sorts out your problem for you.

if you go to start then run, this will bring you to another box. In that box type cmd and then press enter on your keyboard. This will bring you to D (black page with white text) In that box type in ipconfig and press enter on your keyboard. This will show and IP address where it says default gateway. After writing down these numbers type exit in that box and Dos will disappear. Type those number into the address bar when you open up your browser and this will take you to your router page. You can start configuring it from there with the appropriate options given. Remember if you want to protect your router with a password I usually chose WPA PSK. That way you can type in your own password as long as you have at least 8 characters in it. I hope that helps you. Let me know
