First, lets see if you can boot the computer into safe mode. When you see the Toshiba screen, Tap the F8 key until you see the multi-boot option menu. When this menu comes up, choose "safe mode with networking". Let safe mode boot up and say yes when it asks you if you want to boot to safe mode. Do you see a desktop in safe mode? If yes, then it is a user setting on your name account. This may be as easy as going to the start button and clicking on programs > accessories > systems tools > system restore > click on "restore my computer to an earlier time" > Go back a couple of weeks and select a Bold date and click next. It will ask you a few questions and just answer yes and start the restore. The computer will sign off and reboot at which time the restore process will begin. When it is finished it will advise you whether the restore was successful. Hopefully the computer will reset itself back to how it was before the black screen.

Unfortunately, I think you are out of luck on this....when a service pack fails to load, generally that is unrecoverable as far as the operating dydtem goes and this is because, why the service pack is installing it is over-writing the previous files. Unfortunately, you then turned the system off and rebooted. Now there is no windows startup files and the black screen is all you get. The only thing to do at this point is one of two things. You can reformat the system and reinstall Vista and lose everything you have on the system, or you can go to a computer retail store and get a EIDE / SATA to usb adapter, take out your hard drive and attach it to the adapter and then plug the usb end into another computer. The computer will pick this hard drive up as an external drive and allow you to access all personal files like music, pic, docs, etc. to copy over to another hard drive for safe keeping until you get the other drive formatted and reinstalled and reload vista. I hate to be the one to give you the news but I have not seen too many happy endings to a bad service pack install....and to top it off you won't get an apology from Microsoft. Before installing any service packs, browse the web first and follow a forum to see what other people are saying and then decide whether you truly need it or not. I would pick a few more brains before you make your decision, and I wish you luck.

Toshiba satellite L305-s5955 will not power up

If there is no power light and it can't charge your laptop, it is likely that the charger is dead. You need a new laptop charger. So try a new adapter to confirm the real issue.

There are two kinds of ac adapters for your toshiba l305-s5955

Toshiba Satellite L305 AC Adapter 75Watt 19V 3.95A

Toshiba Satellite L305 AC Adapter 90Watt 19V 4.74A

You should choose the right charger depending on your original adapter's specification. If the original one need 90w, you won't buy 75w that will bring damage to your laptop. If it needs 75w you can use 90w too.

Close out any software currently running on your Toshiba Satellite L305 laptop.

Navigate to the laptop's "Start" menu and choose "Shut Down."

Hold down the laptop's "0" key and press the power button.

Keep the key held down during the boot up process until the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" window loads on the screen.

Click the check box labeled "Recovery of Factory Default Software." Choose the "Next" option.

Choose the "Recover to out-of-box state" radio button. Select the "Next" button and click "Next" again.

Use the prompts that appear on the screen to choose your region, time zone and keyboard settings.

Type your new Windows user name and password in the text boxes when prompted. Click "Finish" to load the new operating system.

I have a toshiba l305-S5957 and can't find an internal mic for use with skype

While most laptops comes with a built in webcam and microphone, this particular model does not. If you don't see a web cam built in to the top of your screen, chances are you also won't find an internal microphone. You'll need to purchase additional accessories in order to use your laptop with Skype.

Looking for a lcd screen replacement procedure for Toshiba Satellite L305-S5957.

If the screen is not physically broken then the fault is most likely a back-light problem. A back-light problem is usually caused by a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. These components are a lot cheaper to replace than the whole LCD screen.

Can the Toshiba Satellite L305-S5947 LCD screen be replaced????

Yes, it can be replaced but will most likely cost more than the computer is worth at todays prices. If it where me I would remove the screen and buy an LCD Flat screen and use the computer as a desk top if I really needed to keep it. Or remove the hard drive and put it in a mobile case and use as a back up drive and buy a new laptop.
