Question about Computers & Internet
The simplest way to overcome this it to perform a master reset on the router. You will usually find a RESET button on the back of the router that is "counter sunk" in the casing. You'll need a ball point pen to press it. Press the button in and hold it for approximately 10 seconds or so. The lights on the front of the router will blink. When the lights all come back on and steady as usual, unplug the router for about 5 seconds for good measure. Then plug it back in. When the router boots, you'll once again see the router from your wireless device (laptop) though it will be unsecured at this point! At this point, you should go back into your router settings and re-secure it so that your network (and internet access) is once again secured from outside intrusion. Since I don't have the make and model of your router, I can't walk you through this step, as all of them are different. If in doubt, once you're up and running again, (if you don't have the original owners manual) you should go to the manufacturer's website and view the setup instructions.
I hope this helps and let me know if you need further assistance! :)

Oncw you've reset everything, you'll be able to enter a new password for your wireless connection.
Hope this helps.

Login to the router through the wired LAN and access the wireless setup page and regenerate the password as per your requirement

If you have another computer that works with your wireless, you can try this application to dig out the wireless key from it:
If you don't, or if that other computer uses some proprietary software to connect to wireless networks, you will have to go to your router's configuration interface and look for the wireless settings there.
But if you didn't take the precaution of writing that passphrase down somewhere, chances are you also forgot the password to the router's configuration... Try the default username and password that's specified in the manual, and if this doesn't work you will have to reset the router to factory settings and set it up from scratch.

You will have to reset your router to factory default settings. There is usually a reset button behind the router.
Restoring the Factory Defaults
Press and hold the Reset button for at least ten seconds
then release it. The lights on the Router will momentarily
flash. The Power/Ready light will begin to blink. When the
Power/Ready light becomes solid again, the restore
Then the router will have default user admin and password will be blanked
