The simplest way to overcome this it to perform a master reset on the router. You will usually find a RESET button on the back of the router that is "counter sunk" in the casing. You'll need a ball point pen to press it. Press the button in and hold it for approximately 10 seconds or so. The lights on the front of the router will blink. When the lights all come back on and steady as usual, unplug the router for about 5 seconds for good measure. Then plug it back in. When the router boots, you'll once again see the router from your wireless device (laptop) though it will be unsecured at this point! At this point, you should go back into your router settings and re-secure it so that your network (and internet access) is once again secured from outside intrusion. Since I don't have the make and model of your router, I can't walk you through this step, as all of them are different. If in doubt, once you're up and running again, (if you don't have the original owners manual) you should go to the manufacturer's website and view the setup instructions.
I hope this helps and let me know if you need further assistance! :)

hi iv got a sitecom wl-143 wireless router and a phillips snb5600, both of which support wds, i have given both the routers te same ssid and they are on the same channel, they also have the same wpa2 key, one is a dhcp server the other should therefore pick up a ip for all computers connected to it. i have also added the mac addresses to each of the routers for the wds. how ever they will not connect. my computer connected to the second router (sitecom wl-143) sees the router as a gateway but it doesnt connect or give out ip addresses. any ideas?
