Sounds like the alternator under neath the flywheel has gone bad. This could happen from jumping the mower of a vehicle still running. The alternator on the vehicle puts out to much power for the mower and will damage or blow the alternator on the mower.

Why mu old yard machine riding lawn mower will sometimes start right up and other times it won't even turn over?

Sounds like you battery is not up to snuff. Should get it checked out. I would start there first. If the battery is up where it should be you could have a bad starter.

Now you are describing 2 different problems... If you have nothing I doubt the battery is dead but would check for a safety switch problem. If it clicks or turns over slowly then we need to be looking at a bad connection or other issues... Please describe your problem better to let us help you solve it

I charged the battery on my yard machines 12.5 riding mower but when I tried to start it I get nothing. The lights don't even come on in the accesory position

sounds like a dead battery.
if it's more then 1-2 years old time to get a new one.
also check the fuse in the line close to the start relay.

My Yard machine will not turn over at all. the batterie is fully charged, theres no corrosion on the terminals. So what else could be causing this?

Yard machine riding mower will not start

check all of your known safety switches!
Clutch has to be pushed in
seat switch (sit on mower)
blade disengage switch
Finally check your starter soleniod between the battery and the starter and look for fuses and check them out in the process
