I have just purchased Need For Speed: Prostreet for my Playstation 3 and it seems to be making the console overheat which in turn freezes up the system and i have to force it to shut down. i have taken the game back and replaced it with a new copy and it still has the same problem. My other PS3 games still work fine.

1) check you are on newest firmware 2) make shure there are NO scratches 3) check your visual settings - on the back of game cas it will tell you the resolution the game works on. Make shure your playstation is not set up differently.

PS3 blinking green, red or yellow light means hardware errors and need some maintenance. Not only overheat, there are many reasons to get that. Your PS3 might have a broken fan. If you are using an external fan that attaches to the PS3 than stop, fans like the Nyko Intercooler and Pelican cause more problems with ventillation and may cause the PS3 to overheat. If heat is an issue make sure the system has plenty of room to breath and point a small fan at the console. If thiat doesn't work call Sony customer sopport.
Blow out PS3 thoughly with air and make sure it can breathe. They do not do well in entertainment centers. They overheat. Which one do you have the smaller one or the bigger HD one. The 40 gig one has a different videocard that likes to overheat and freak out a lot. (If you dont have a card reader but you have a 80 gig HD then thats the "new" small one, and its junk too. Send back to Sony if you need it fixed).
