3 beeps mean that computer ram has failed

replace your ram and then start your computer

if you have more than 1 ram stick try removing one and then start your computer, if it still doesnt try removing the other one and place back the first one

3 beeps no boot

3 bleeps usually relating to memory... try removing and re-inserting RAM and video cards... or try them elsewhere in another machine. It may be wise to remove all the RAMs and add one at a time while trying to reboot.

NOTE: Remove the power wait a few moments before handling each RAM.

Another cause since it's been 'sitting' a while could well be the power supply due to failing capacitors, so trying another wouldn't be a bad idea.

4 bleeps and it won't boot

The AMI BIOS 4 beep error code usually means an issue with memory. If you are not getting any video, then the problem is probably in the first bank of memory. If you have 2 memory sticks installed, try swapping them. If not, try re-seating the memory stick. A single stick should be placed in the "A" channel slot, the one closest to the CPU. You aren't saying if this is a new build. If so, are you certain that you have the correct type and speed memory? The manual, pages 1-3 thru 1-5 lists the "approved" type/size/vendors for memory. Vendor isn't always important, but if type and size are correct, and the vendor is not on the tested list, there may be compatibility issues. Some memory requires different voltage settings than the MB defaults to. Check the memory vendor for details if necessary.

A beeb normally means defective (hardware failure) DOA. Go back to your store for a warranty replacement.

Comp won't boot after installing new ram. possible motherboard problem?

try emoveing both sticks and blowing into the ram slots then replace 1 stick at a time. if this dose not work try checking all the cables to make sure nothing got knocked out of place when you installed the memory in the first place. (bleeping sounds can mean a lot of diffrent things if the problem carrys on count the bleeps and look on google to see what that number of bleeps means for your motherboard) hope this helps
