The Flash Spring mounting breaks

Anyway if you are brave and handy you CAN fix this.

First remove the back of the camera - 3 screws in battery bay, 1 in the side above the memory card door, The two rear most on the bottom, two in the USB/video door, and the rear most on the left hand carry strap bracket.
Carefully prise the back rearward about 5 to 8 mm.

Now take a look at the two screw holes under the flash (when popped - or flopped out now that is broken) now go and bend a screwdriver of the type you used for the previous screws - you will need a 90 degree bend very close to the tip to fit in this gap and be able to turn the screws a few degrees at at time.
A little at a time lock the screwdriver into the screws and undo until the flash cover comes off.

You can then slide the shaft out of the flash to release the spring which will have the end that should fit into the broken bracket now sitting proud..

Make a suitable U shaped bracket that will slide over the broken plastic bracket and drill a tiny hole in the side where the spring will clip in.

.
make sure it fits really well and then epoxy into position.

Getting the spring back in is a fiddly job - I found the best way was to fit the end of the spring into the new bracket, slide the shaft just into the spring - the lever the other end of the spring down into the back of the flash body and then slide the shaft all the way into place.

I did have to file down the little plastic "blade" inside the lid which presumably is designed to assist the the (now broken) bracket from breaking....
reverse the dis-assembly and now you should have a working flash

If low beams are working then the relay is fine. Sounds like the dimmer switch is bad.

DSC H-5 the flash pops up but does not flash, camera is set to automatic mode and flash is turned on.

Flash pops up shows that flash release mechanism is working as camera wants to flash.
There are 3 thick wires connecting between flash bulb and flash charging circuit in camera, one of thick wire seems internally broken and causing problem.
Camera will be apart to check wires.
Let me know, if you are willing to apart camera, for further help.
Thanks.

Our flash clicks open but won't pop up

I am not a camera repair guy, but it sounds like the small spring that lifts it and keeps it up, is broken.
How to fix?
1. Buy a similar camera on Ebay for parts. Remove the top. Unsolder the wires to the flash and remove it from the parts camera. Set it aside.
Take your camera apart the same way. Swap parts, and reassemble. Be careful no to pinch any wires or you will have to do this all over again. Oh yes, DO NOT touch the flash capacitor in either camera or you could get a nasty shock that requires medical attention.
2. Pay a repair guy to repair it for you.
3. Buy another camera with a working flash.
4. Buy an add-on flash for the camera.

Sounds like loose part in Canon 350D / Rebel XT

This is nothing to worry about. The sound is made by the metal linkage inside the flash housing. Pop up the flash and touch the linkage with your fingers. You will see there is a little movement. This movement is enough to make the sound you hear.

Check your SD card, there may be a piece of it missing. Did the same to my camera and looking into the card holder, there was a piece of SD card lying at th bottom! (I used a needle to dislodge it!)

How do i take it apart.

using your fingernail, there are multiple plastic clips that should pop off as you run your finger around the edge, let me know if you still can't get it, you may also try a small flat headed screwdriver to pry it apart.
