How do i get into a spreadsheet when i get a message saying it can't be opened

Hi, what is the exact error code you receive? If you can provide the exact error code or message, will narrow down troubleshoot. To get around the problem, try starting Excel in safe mode. The command is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE /s".

To run the command:

1. Copy the above command without inverted commas.
2. Click Start and paste by pressing "Ctrl + V" and press the Enter key.

See if this open Excel. Thereafter, exit Excel and try opening Excel again in normal mode without the "/s" switch at the end.

If still having issue, suspect some of the system files may be corrupted. Run Office setup and hit Repair when prompted.

I use Omniform 4.0 for OCR document storage in Windows Vista. I am having trouble emailing these docs as an attachment to Windows Mail. What do I have to do to be able to email these documents this way?

First off, I assume that you know that Omniform is a database program. We use it at my work, and everyone believes that it is just a way of filling out a form and printing it. Everything that is entered is saved in a database (usually hidden) and is then accessbile through the form.

Now that's out of the way. To email a form, you will have to add the actual .ofm file as an attachment, and mail it to your recipient. They will have to also have omniform to open the file.

Your other option is to export the form fields (from the file>export menu in omniform). It'll give you a little hassle about deciding on which fields to export, and how you want them exported (MS excel, dbase, ect). Once you export them, they will be in a matching filetype (ie .xls or whatever you exported them as) format. Add this file as an attachment, and sent it through your mail to your recipient.

I know this all seems like a bit of a pain, but honestly, Omniform is a great program. I've used it for 6 years, and had very few problems with it. Word to the wise, its easier to just attach your .ofm files and send them as email, rather than using the build in "sent to mail recipient" that is built into the omniform program.

Let me know if you have any further questions. This is one program that i've had to take apart, reassemble, build forms, ect for numerous people.

Good Luck

I just got a new computer with Word Pad. I cannot open the attachments that I receive in email that were sent from Word. Is there some solution?

I got some possible solutions to this.
1. Upload the file, then view it at Google Docs. You have to download first your doc file, at least to your desktop. On the left pane of you Google Docs page, click "Upload..." button (beside "Create new" button). On the next page, click "Select file to upload", select your file then "Start Upload". Click "back to Google Docs", and view your document.
2. Open the file using notepad. You need to know at least one word from the file and search it (CTRL+F) to skip the unreadable ascii characters.
3. Install a document viewer. You can isntall open-source software like AbiWord or install Microsoft Word.
Please rate me if this helps.

I am not able to open any attached file in the incoming mail showing error like documents is damaged. But I can open that in direct mail server please help

If you are unable to open any attached file in your incoming mail and are using Microsoft Office 2007, run registry editor (regedit.exe) and scroll to the following location:

Copy the contents of the "OutlookSecureTempFolder" key and paste it in the Windows Explorer to open the OutlookSecureTempFolder. Delete all files in this folder and then run Outlook.

This location can not be browsed to and can only be found from the registry as it is different for all users. e.g. for myself it is as follows:

D:\Users\keekus\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\R34DKK8O\

For earlier versions of Microsoft Office, you may find the "OutlookSecureTempFolder" in these locations:

Need to delete email w/2 large of attachment after clicking send

1. Go the File menu, then choose Work Offline in order to stop Outlook from trying to send all mails:
2. Switch to the Outbox.
3. You now have two options:
a. Move the message: you can drag-and-drop or use the Edit: Move to Folder menu item to move the e-mail to your drafts folder. This will allow you to re-open the offending e-mail and slim it down by removing the large attachments before attempting to resend it.

b. Delete the message: this will immediately remove the message from the Outbox and put it in Deleted Items.

If you receive an error at this point that says the message is being transmitted, close Outlook, wait for Outlook to exit (you may need to use Task Manager and wait for the Outlook.exe process to exit), and then start Outlook again and repeat steps 2-3. In some cases, the item may not be released until Outlook has restarted.
5. Go to the File menu, deselect Work Offline to start sending and receiving mail again.

Toolbar/menu/handle disappeared from saved and new documents.

Sounds like you've either gone into Full Screen mode or have turned off your Toolbars and Menu via the Customize command.

Normally pressing ESC will exit the Full Screen Mode. If you can't see the Menu try using the keyboard shortcuts like so. Keep the ALT key held down and press V followed T. Hopefully you should now see the menu and select "Customize..." to turn everything back on again.

Unable to print doc from windows xp

I would make sure that you are trying to print from the same printer that you are test printing. I know sounds basic but take a look. If you are reinstall the drivers printers commonly need to be reinstalled for various reasons.
