Question about Motorola Mobility MOTOKRZR K1 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Car charger I have a K1. Car charger does not charge the batteries but drains it. What does 'charger time" 3hrs etc., mean in the Car kit menu?  Can anyone recommend the correct Car kit charger please? Thank you so much, in advance!

    Thanks a Ton , Tanya!!!

Could you please clarify: i have bought 2 car chargers and both drain the batteries rather than charge them? ? ;-(

    Thanks again Tanya!

The Cell is fine: charges well with the USB as well as the wall charger.

It is only the Car charger that drains the battery instead of charging it.
I was wondering if there is any specific car-Charger for the K1.
Thanks for the fast reply :-)

'Charger time" in the car kit menu means when it's plugged into a car charger, it's only going to "stay on " and charge for 3 hrs max or whatever you set it to.

It's useless for newer cars as newer cars don't continue to keep power flowing to the power ports when the car is off. it's more for older model cars.

Check to see if your battery is swelling.

Take the battery out and put it on a flat surface. Now try to spin the battery .. If it spins then it's time for a new battery .. If it just makes barely one revolution .. should be ok.

Battery swelling is caused by cells in the battery dying and expanding thus creating a "bubble" .. All batterys should be FLAT .. not rounded width wise by any means.

i'd stick with OEM chargers (chargers made by motorola) third party chargers aren't always outputting the correct voltage to the phone .. they could kill a phone (i've seen some phones that were plugged to a third party charger just ONCE never turn on again)

and stay away from "I Go " chargers ... there's no possible way ONE charger can charger every phone under the sun by switching the tips ... Not all phones require the same voltage when charging

Pro logix charge does'nt start

Do you mean that the charger doesn't start the car? Have you waited long enough for the charger to charge the battery? Sometimes it will take a long time. A battery will lose its efficiency up to 60 percent during cold weather. That means it will take even longer to charge up the battery for a start. Especially if it has been sitting for a long time. Remember, to start a car with a battery charger, the battery must have a partial charge. Put your battery charger in the low setting of "2amps" and allow it to charge for a dozen hours. If it doesn't start the care by then, you better have the battery tested. It may not be able to hold a charge. Which could keep it from starting the car.

Car battery is being drained by hands free kit

Check that your alternator is working. The alternator charges the car battery whilst the car is in motion. If this is not working, then your battery is being drained and not charged.
Check your car battery charge level. Ask Halfords (or if you have a car battery charger) to plug your battery into a charger/tester and see if a fault is here

My new Compaq CQ56-258SA laptop was advertised as having a battery with a 7hr life but although it has been charged to 100% 4 times now, the battery only lasts 3hrs at the most, Any ideas what I can do or...

The advert is usually for a laptop with the screen set to half brightness, wifi/bluetooth off and only an internet browser open ( no flash content)
However it is important that the battery undergoes a few full cycles.
By cycle i mean fully charge it, then use it until the battery has completely drained.

Battery charger on green light when battery flat ,it should be on red also when charger plugged into bike, bike works ok when you take charger out bike stops working

If your bike works when you have the charger connected but doesn't whith the charger disconnected and just the battery then your battery is not charged or you have a bad connection between the battery and ebike.
If the battery charger is showing green then it normally means that charging has stopped charging and there is no current flow to battery. This could be because the battery is fully charged, OR there is an open circuit (broken wire, etc.) between the charger and battery, OR your battery is so flat the voltage is below the low voltage cut-off point of the charger so the charger is not switching on.
You need to check the voltage out of your battery and compare it to the LVC of your charger (should be specified in the user manual), but from what you have described I'd say you need to replace your battery.

Can i charge this battery with a normal auto battery charger?

Unless the battery is fully drained the car battery charger is good enough to charge the battery mentioned. The car battery charger has got about 3-5 amps of capacity and the only possible problem will be the time taken to build up if the charge is fully down... might heat up a bit but is normal.
Only if the above battery is bad/shorted will it result in draining more current resulting in heating of the charger.

Batteries don't charge. I have a new battery, and neither of the old or new batteries work in the charger. I get flashing lights only, sometimes red, sometimes green, but in the end, the battery isn't...

Dust getting in the charger is a problem, Try blowing it out with a moisture-free dust remover, found at most any store. Green flashing means improper power, due to dust or power from the outlet, try a differant wall outlet. Red flashing means the charger or battery is to hot and must cool down before it will charge. The charger will not charge a battery if the lights are flashing. Solid Red light means it is charging and solid green light means it is charged. Plug the charger in first before putting the battery on the charger. If the charger has been droped or hit the floor the coil inside could have broke loose and dammaged the charger requiring it to be replaced.

How long do you charge the Audiovox GMRS1072CH for.

On Audiovox's 9V 250mA ( not certain) suggested charge time is 8hrs, but if you pop the batteries out of the back and stick them into a dedicated battery charger you can usually have fresh batteries in 2-3hrs.

Damaged connector

The K1 is not an easy one to take apart compared to others. I would not recommend it. Plus once it is taken apart you lose the seal. I rarely charge my K1 using my phone. I purchased a unit for under $10 to charge my batteries on. I like to have an extra battery for my cell so I am never without service while it charges.
It will cost you more to get the piece replaced on your K1 than it would to get a seperate charger for a battery. If you need help let me know. I will help you locate a charger if needed.

sounds like the battery to me. there is a chance it is the phone. Check on your warranty and see about a battery replacement first. Its much more likely.
