It happened also to me -the problem is caused by a broken flat cable, which is connecting aperture/shutter coils from inside of the lenses to controller board - it is poorly manufactured probably too short (extra stress at endo of zoom). I tried to repair it - by soldering to repair damaged part, see some photos there:
Be carreful when trying the same, not forget to discarge flash capacitor and document all the taken-off parts to be able to assemble everthing back.

This sounds like a defective Sony CCD issue. If so, Sony will fix your Minolta camera for free (with free shipping) regardless of warranty. You need to do this before March 31, 2008 so get going! See this link:
The Dimage models that Sony is accepting for the recall repair are:
Dimage 7HI, 7I, A1, Xi, F300, XT, X20, S414.

Most likely you received this message after a toner was replaced. Reseat the cartridge and restart the printer. If that doesn't work remove all of the toner cartridges manually and reinstall.
Turn off the printer and open the top cover. Follow the toner cartridge all the way to the right side of the printer (on the white part). You should see a hole that looks like a cross. Take a pen or key and push down on the black button in that hole. While you are holding it down rotate the toner cartridge towards you. You want to get the colored roller on the cartridge about 1/2in away from the metal bar that says "consumable reorder". You should be in a position to take out the toner. Let go of the hole and remove the cartridge. Repeat the steps until all of the cartridges have been removed.
Turn the printer back on at this point. You are going to get toner not installed messages on the printer. Open the top cover and the cyan tray will be in place. Shake the toner and install. Close the cover and let it cycle to the next color (black). Repeat the process until all cartridges are installed.
If you are still getting the error you either have a bad cartridge or the carousel that the toners sit in is damaged.
