Question about Garden

1 Answer

I have a Snapper rear-engine riding mower and I need to replace the blade and blade holder. I cannot get the blade holder off. I removed the nut, and the folks at my local dealer say that the holder will unscrew. It doesn't seem to! It looks like it would pull off with a wheel puller. Does it pull off, or unscrew? Please help!

It is threaded on. stand the deck and mower up on the rear end or just the mower deck if you have removed it from the tractor. Use the belt or some very large channel lock pliers and have some one hold the pulley so it doesn't spin, Use a small (about 4 pound) drilling hammer and hammer the edge of bar until it breaks free. You might want to spray the bolt with some penetrating oil before you start.

if it's a rear engine rider with a 28 or 30 inch deck the grease fitting is underneath the deck... If it is a rear engine rider, close the fuel off and stand the mower on end but for a short period of time only. This applies to ALL rear engine riders from Snapper up until about 2 years ago when they made a SERIOUS mistake and redesigned them
