NEVER, put the green ground wire under the same screw or fastener as the white (neutral) wire! It is not Code and the reason is that if the connection becomes loose or gets burned off, you would have an ungrounded 220V-AC circuit that would use YOU or someone else as the path to clear any ground fault situation.

The correct way is to mount a separate Grounding termination with either the factory green gronding screw (if provided) or by drilling and tapping a hole next to the power terminals, (away from them so as not to make accidential contact) and install a green grounding screw for the cord set's ground wire.

Any other advice is dangerous and can lead to electrocution, injury and death!

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

You can ground the green to the cabinet or double it up with the white wire on the center post.

I am trying to find the ground wire for this dryer.

On whirlpool (all manufacture) dryers the ground wire is linked to the center terminal with the white wire and attaches to the cabinet grounding all metal on dryer since on panel attaches to the next making the entire cabinet have continuty through the neutral/ground wire.
When connecting 3 wire cord connect the two outside wires to red/black on cord block and center wire to white/center terminal connection on block.
For a 4 wire cord red to red black to black white to white and the green to rear of cabinet/any panel near block

Hello, welcome to Fixya,

If you'll notice the new cord has 2 hot (red & black) a neutral (white) and ground/earth (green) wires. In case you are not sure how to connect I've attached a photo which shows the correct way.

Just moved and outlet for dryer is different.

Connect the red, black, and white wires of the new cord to where the red, black, and white wires of the original dryer wires are connected to but disconnect the ground wire (green/yellow wire attached to the cabinet) from where the white wire is connected to and connect it instead to the fourth green/yellow wire of the new cord.

Read through the instructions provided and let me know if you have questions. This advice is how to convert from a 3 prong to a 4 prong appliance cord. You simply match the corresponding colors of the wires on the cord you intend to attach to the matching colors at the terminal block on the back of the dryer. If the wires are not color coded at the terminal block, the outer two wires (left and right) are the HOT leads, the center wire is the Neutral. Make sure the neutral and ground wires remain independent of each other in a 4 wire configuration. The green wire should be terminated on a ground lug on the equipment cabinet while the neutral is terminated at the terminal block.

Let me know if you require further assistance. I hope this help you.

Match the corresponding colors at the terminal block, making sure the Neutral (White) and Ground (Green or Bare Copper) wires are NOT terminated together.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.
