Solution for Error 2 on Minolta Dimage E50 is not very ease, anyway, the problem is involving the socket lens control flat. To proceed: remove front screws of camera, then check on left bottom close the lens if the flat socket ir really inserted on his plug. The socket is located under a flat cable coming from the back of camera, it is large about 1,5 cm. To test it you can remove temporally the adesive shield orange pay attention of not damage the flat cable. Otherwise if camera drop down the flat can be damaged and you need to replace the camera lenses.

Darkened image

same for you, please red this: "My camera is 2 years old. 6 months ago horizontal lines began appearing in all pictures" The problem is not the sensor as the first solution has been posted, the real problem is connected with the flat cable inside lenses that is broken. You cannot replace it, you can raplace intere zoom. The problem is frequently on this type of camera and direct connected with camera frequent use. The fixed and automatic diaphragm do not work bacause broken flet is broken and the sensor is receiving too mach light. Take the camera, switch it on then light with a flashlight the lens, you see a diaphragm movement or hear a click on the lens, if not the flat wire is broken (means microcut inside flat invisible without a magnifying glass). Most time same problem is present with no image on the screen because diaphragm is completelly closed.

Konica Minolta Dimage E50 suddenly over expose. Indoor at night, the picture looks almost normal. Daytime the wall will be too white. Outdoor the picture is white out.

Hi!
The shutter cable inside the lens has broken - a common problem with the E50. The cable moves as the lens zoom so it brakes at some point and then camera isn't able to control the shutter - control the amount of light taken. If you look closely at the over exposed pictures, you will notice horizontal lines accross them.
The shutter or whole lens unit has to be changed. It is quite expensive, I believe it's not worth it. You can contact Sony / Konica - Minolta service center.
I work in a Sony / Konica - Minolta service center and have repaired a lot of these.

Hope this helps!

Sustem Error S0042

Todd, What you can do is to powerit on and try to pull the lens out manually. Do not use too much strength or rotate. But try it a few times and the lens casing may stop touching the camera body. Once the lens comes out fully then the camera will boot up and work.

Hoizontal lines in images

The problem is faulty CCD sensor ( this device converts light into image ) so faulty sensor means either poor quality pics or no pics at all. Have sensor replaced and camera will work fine.
