Question about Whirlpool TEDX640PQ Dryer

1 Answer

I have an Estate by Whirlpool driver model TEDX640PQ0. The dryer is not heating at all, and when on Auto Sense it runs all nite and only shuts off if you shut it off, but will shut off on timer setting, but still does not get hot. I don't feel the dryer is expensive enough to warrant paying service calls and parts for a repairman, so I was hoping it was something I could fix myself. Any ideas?

Hi,
My guess is, your heating element has gone out. Yes, you can fix it if you're so inclined to.
Here is a link to a set of manuals, including a parts list manual... this will help you in obtaining your part and illustrates how the unit is assembled.

I hope this helps you... Good luck!

I have an electric Estate Dryer made by Whirlpool TEDS840PQO. It has "Timed Dry", "No Heat Fluff" and "Auto Sense Drying" settings. On the Auto Sense Drying it has...

Verify that the wrinkle prevent switch is good. If so, the timer is likely the problem. Sometimes the switch contacts inside the timer can be cleaned to restore operation, bit it is a tricky item to disassemble and reassemble.

Estate TGDS680EQ3 gas dryer blows cold

The timer is stripped inside and needs to be replaced. The cogged teeth are made of plastic and a tooth or two has broken off keeping the timer from moving while running

I have a Whirlpool Estate dryer Model TGDS840PQ0. During auto sense, the timer will not move. But during a "time dry" session, the timer seemse to work just fine. Any ideas?

in auto the timer will not move if there is no heat, when the heat stops the timer moves, heat comes on timer doesn't move, when it's on auto make sure power is going down to the heating system, next time send model number and if it's gas or electric, good luck

Dryer lost heat according to different cycles

the model number you have is for a gas dryer if this is an electric dryer then you can access the heating element by removing the back cover this has a small element you can remove it by taking the 1/4 inch screws from the sides of the element there could be two screws or just one remove the screws and pull the element out you con then visually inspect it but the best way is to ohm it out with a meter but your problem sounds more like a timer
