Try reinstalling the software. If there are any issues that should fix it. You must also make sure that you have the right software for the right system.

If the computer freezes this may be a sign of bad memory in the unit. Powerr DVD would not be the blame for the computer freeze. also what could be the issue would be a video card failing to render the video. I would suggest you have this computer evaluated,, You could also try to recover the computer back to its factory settings if that does not work you know you got a hard ware issue.

Depress the power button for a few seconds till the computer turns off. Wait a few seconds and restart.

Where does it freeze, during startup, or once within Windows? If you make it somewhere into the Windows operating system, restart, and during startup, peck on F8 key till you get to the B/W Startup options. Cursor down to "Safe Mode with Networking", and press the Enter key. If it makes it to Safe Mode, use "System Restore" (SR) to back up to a date before the problem occurred. If SR isn't available, or doesn't work, enter Safe Mode again, use your IE, Firefox, Google Chrome, or Opera browser to go to www.download.com. In the right-hand column of Most Popular Downloads, you'll find Malwarebytes. Download and run that program to see if the problem came from a malware infection. Follow the instructions to scan, and afterwards to remove the infections, then restart the computer.

Ok heres my problem when my computer comes on it says it wasn't shut down correctly and when i have it to start normally nothings happens it just freezes and when i have it start from last known working...

Hi,

Most likely the driver that ha gone bad is the video driver. Let's troubleshoot the problem first by finding out if this happens on Safe Mode. Perform the following steps. Make sure the computer is off.

1. Turn on computer
2. Start tapping F8 key right away (once per second)
3. You should be looking at your screen with the Windows Advanced Boot Option menu similar to the picture shown below.

4. Use your keyboard's UP arrow key to highlight Safe Mode with Networking.
5. Press Enter key twice.
6. Log on to your account if prompted.
7. Click on Yes button to continue loading the Safe Mode.
8. Close any window that may come up on your screen.

In some cases, you may notice that everything seems to be in bigger size. This is normal on Safe Mode because it is using the native drivers for your computer.

If the computer freezes in Safe Mode, chances are, you might have a hardware problem. It may be the hard drive or video card. If the video card is integrated or built in to the motherboard, then it might be the motherboard.

If the computer does not freeze in Safe Mode, let us continue and hopefully resolve this issue. Perform the next steps.

1. Click on Start.
2. Right Click on Computer.
3. Click on Manage.

mongkey_56.jpg
You should find yourself looking at the Computer Managment window.

4. Click Device Manager to highlight.
5. Click the plus sign of the Display adapters, similar to the picture below.

mongkey_0.png

6. Whatever listed under it, delete it. Press the Delete button on your keyboard, then,
follow the instructions.
7. Restart Computer to Normal Mode.

While your computer is restarting to Normal Mode, Windows should be installing its Native Driver for your computer's video card/adapter. Eventually, you will need to re-install the video driver for your computer. Should you find yourself asking how to re-install the video driver of your computer, kindly response with your computer's brand/model for further assistance.

I hope this works for you. Good Luck!

My computer, a Dell Inspiron 1525, keeps freezing. Everytime I turn it on, it'll freeze at least once before I'm able to use it.

Try to 'recover' or 'restore' to an earlier time. Look under help in the start menu in order to find links to make this happen on your laptop.

Or, try to get Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, and install it through the DVD drive, if so equipped to overwrite the old operating system that is giving you trouble.

One may also try to download the Windows 7 operating system, if a DVD drive is not available, but an Internet connection is.

Good luck on this repair.

I need help with ibm thinkpadr40 have no idea what is going on tried somethings, blue screen keeps coming up and freezes and runs slow

If you are getting different problems at different times, they you have to start handling things slowly to exactly pin point the issue. It will be great if you can also document the error messages, when you get it, the windows version you are using etc so we can provide you more accurate steps and identify the exact issue.

First if you are using windows XP restart the computer in safe mode and try using it (if you wanted to use internet - wired) then restart the computer in safe mode networking.

Procedure to restart computer in safe mode:
Restart computer, keep tapping F8 key on the keyboard, instead of going to windows it will show up a windows advanced boot menu, where you need to use your up or down arrow key to navigate the control to Safe mode / safe mode with networking and hit enter key. this will show some commands / text on your screen and take you to safe mode.

Try using your computer in safe mode and see if your computer is giving you any error or if it freezes. If it does not give you any trouble in this mode then you computer is good, it should be the additional programs running in the normal mode that is creating the issue. we need to diagnose further to find it.

If it is freezing / gives your error message in safe mode itself, then there should be a problem with the hardware of your computer, we have to find out by eliminating the hardware one by one.

Do not worry, we can work together pin point the issue and we will help you to resolve this issue.

My Compaq Presario V2000 will not start.

Ok, this makes sense. If this was a legit dvd, then it most likely had extra content on it (like wallpaper, sounds, etc) that installed something that crashed a driver.  If it wasn't legit, then the "player" that was used to play the movie installed something that crashed a driver.
If you can. I would reinstall some drivers to start.  Have you tried the "Last known good configuration" option?
Then if reinstalling drivers doesn't work, I would just restore the Windows OS.  But remember to BACKUP YOUR FILES.....once you restore it will be erased.
That compaq is a good machine unless you really want another PC this is fixable.

Computer will not start past safe mode screen

In safe mode, hit start button -run, and type "msconfig" in the box , hit enter.
the system configuration utility opens.
select startup tab at the top
when the startup screen opens, UNcheck all the boxes, press APPLY, then OK
the computer will prompt you to restart, when it restarts it will give you a message saying you have use the system configuration utility to change the way windows starts, this is normal. Check the box that say dont show this again and click OK.
doing this will keep the programs set to start when windows starts from starting untill you start them manually. If one of them is causing the freeze, this will make the system accessible.
Keep in mind, you may want to turn some of them back on after you get the computer going and when you do , turn them on one at a time and restart the computer after each change. this way you can identify which program is causing the problem.
Hope this helps. please repost if you have more questions

PC won't Start windows normally

You can attempt to undo this through the use of System Restore.

I am going to assume you are on Windows XP, So start your computer in safe mode without networking.

Once you are in the desktop you are going to use System Restore. Choose a date in time on your computer before the incident happened.

For more information on the system restore utility go here:
