Your laptop comes with a touch pad that acts as a mouse. Instead of connecting a mouse each time you want to use your laptop, you can use the touch pad that is integrated underneath the keyboard. This comes in handy when you are in a tight spot such as in a classroom or on an airplane. At times, you may need to unlock the laptop touch pad because someone who borrowed your laptop disabled it. It may also be locked due to a slight malfunction that you can easily fix by enabling the touch pad in your computer settings. Click the Windows "Start" button in the bottom-left corner of your desktop. Scroll up and click "Control Panel." Choose the "Mouse" icon or type "Mouse" in the field in the upper-right corner. Click the "Enter" button and then click the "Mouse" link. Press the "Hardware" tab or the tab to the right of it that specifies the type of touch pad you have. If you are under the "Hardware" tab, highlight the touch pad in the list of devices and click the "Enable" button. If you are under the touch pad tab, click the enable button. Click the "Apply" button and then click the "OK" button. Hope this helps.
If the laptop is that new, the problem is probably the touch pad "disable" button. Look for a small button just above or near the touch pad and make sure the touch pad is not turned off. If you cannot find the disable button, look in your user manual for the touch pad disable.
Some computer's include a lock button on the laptop for example on an Hp Pavillion the lock button is in the middle top part of the touch pad. Please tell me what software you are using (Windows 7, Vista, or Xp) and what model of the Acer you are using, or go into your control panel and look under printers and hardware for a touch pad tab and see if you accidentally locked it there. Or a wire has come loose in the laptop and you may need to buy a new Touch pad for your.
On Acer 5732Z there is a button that disables the touch pad next to the power button [on the left]. The icon is a rectangle with a hand pointing on it.
press the button to toggle the touch pad on and off.
It is unfortunate to know about that. However as you told that the left click button of the touch pad for you acer laptop has broken or damged, the only way to get it resolved is to get the laptop serviced. As the laptop touch pad and keypad is integrated directly with the mother board it is not possible to fix just that paricular button. The pad must be replaced. Get in touch with the acer technical support , they will replace the pad for you.
