I have no sound card install on my computer. please help to install it

You need to redownload the drivers for your HP Compaq Presario V2000 Go to this link

When you get there Then scroll down and Then where you see "Operating System", select your operating system (ex: XP, Vista, or Windows 7). It will then show all the drivers for your operating system...scroll down until you see the Audio Driver driver software Conexant CX20468-31 AC97 Audio Driver and then download and reinstall it. Hopefully this will help...good luck.

What is audio driver?

Is a program that makes your computer talk to the audio device in it. Without one your aduio device will not work and you will not get any sound.
Most operating systems come with the audio driverm but occassionally you may have to download and install one yourself. If you add a new audio card to your computer, most likely it will come with a CD that contains the audio driver.
Audio drivers as all drivers must match the Operating system you are using (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit), OS X, etc...)

Hope this helps.

My HP pavillion dv6700 laptops sound doesn't work .... the icon has a re x at the bottom and it says no audio device has been installed; it is only 2yrs. old; can this be resolved or would it be best to...

I believe it can be resolved without purchasing a new laptop.

Windows is a 'funny animal'. Sometimes Windows just looses it. You need to reinstall your audio device Drivers again.

It's Integrated Audio used on the HP Pavilion DV6700T laptop. An audio chip soldered to the motherboard.
Another term used for Integrated Audio is OnBoard Audio.
On the motherBoard.

Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
Integrated Circuit,

(If it wasn't Integrated Audio, it would be a separate audio adapter card. {Sound Card} The audio chip is soldered to an adapter card. The adapter card is removable. This would allow replacing the audio adapter card. Not happening for an HP Pavilion dv6700t laptop)

Drivers are small software programs that allow the Operating System to communicate with the device.
(Windows XP and Windows Vista are two examples of an Operating System. O/S)

There is an HP Pavilion DV6700T Entertainment Notebook PC series, and an HP Pavilion DV6700T SPECIAL EDITION Entertainment Notebook PC series of laptops.

I need to know what Operating System you are using. Do I assume Windows Vista? (Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit)

Going with Windows Vista, here is the Audio Driver download page for the Pavilion DV6700T notebook, (Laptop),

Doesn't matter what version of Vista it is, this audio file is for all versions of Vista.

On the above page left-click on the + sign to the left of -
Driver- Audio (1)

Now go to the right, and left-click on Download, in the rectangular box.

A small box will come up, Opening sp38899.exe
The name of this file is sp38899.exe

Left-click on Save File.

The file will be saved to, where ever your downloads are set to save to. The file needs to be found, then opened in order to work.

When you see the audio file (sp38899.exe) Double-click on it.
The Windows Installation wizard will lead you through installing.

If you are asked to restart your computer, do so.
If not, restart your computer.

Volume problems

Please follow these steps to resolve the issue.
  • Check if the Default Audio Device is changed.
  • Please right click on Volume icon and select Playback Device.
  • Select the Speaker as Default and click OK.
  • Please check if Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is installed in the Computer.
  • Please right click on Computer icon and select properties and check if Vista Service Pack 1 is installed.
If the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is installed in the Computer, then install the BIOS update to resolve the issue as the Audio may not work properly after installing Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1).

If the issue still persists, then reinstall the Audio Driver to resolve the issue.

All the best!!

No audio device installed.

It's unlikly that HP will relesae he needed Vista drivers for your sound device.
That has been a problem with Vista since day 1.
If you want your sound back, you should go back to XP.
Windows Vista use a new software architecture, and hardware devices must comply with it, in order to be used by the new OS.

Do you have windows XP or Vista?
Do you have sigmatell audio card?

When this happens go to start->run type in services.msc and press run.
Find Windows audio service. Right click and select properties. SElect start type "automatic" and click on start.
Audio should work.
Please leave your feedback if issue was solved or if you still have that problem
