Power cleaning The power cleaning message is up on the printer, with a y and a n flanking it. How do we make sure we DON"T power clean -- don't want to waste the ink. How do we get out of it and back to main menu?

My brother 5840CN. lit says unable to print. the manual says to take the jam out - there was no jam. Turn it off, then on. i did that. It still says unable to print, look at troubleshooting page

errr.....No, no it does not. The Manual says that "unable to clean" means one of two things.....
1. The MFC has a mechanical problem.-OR-2. A foreign obstacle, such as a clip or ripped paper, is in the MFC.
but regardless, I don't believe it *IS* a 'cleaning' problem per se.Try resetting the power purge counter.

Press menu > Mono Start > 4x Arrow up after another. All lights will flash.
1. Power clean - Press 7>6>4 >Mono? Start.
2. Power Purge: 7>6 >3 >Mono Start.
Press 9>9 to exit maintenance mode. Run a print quality test print.

Service Request E521

The developer home position sensor is not registering. it will need to be cleaned. This will involve the removal of the left side cover, the removal of the power supply pcb and the removal of the sensor which sits under the power supply. clean the sensor out with a dry pain brush and re install. be careful to turn the printer off and unplug it prior to removing any covers. the cover is easily removed, however, take your time and make sure you release all the clips on the inside of the cover. once the cover is off it is easy to get to the sensor. don't worry too much about all the connections to the power supply, they only fit in one plug and cannot be inter changed.

Remember to take your time in this operation. If you are at all uncomfortable with this, do yourself a favor and call a technician in to do it. He wii do it in about fifteen minutes.

Error shown 000019 0000 after remove toner from used toner box this message again shown

Did you clean the neck of the waste toner bottle well? If you look at the neck there are two clear looking circles that will have to be super clean. I've always punched holes with a needle nose pliers so that the photo-cell sensors don't have trouble connecting. The blockage of the beam indicates the bottle is full when actually the neck is lightly covered with waste toner. The copier has never given this trouble after putting these holes in the circles. You should only have to cycle the power to clear the code after the neck is cleaned. Good luck.

Hi. After using budget ink cartridges, the print quality has been very poor and not printing the correct colours it suppose to. I've performed many print cleaning options but it is still not rectifying...

If the cartridges you're using give you poor results, throw them away cos you don't know what other damage they might be doing.

I'm not saying don't use budget cartridges, just bin them if they don't work properly and get a different brand.

Alternatively, are cheap cartridges worth all this hassle?

My r290 add red color to my photos

*** I'll be more than happy to help you on that. you might be talking about R280, because theres no R290 for epson. there is a great possibility thatsome of the nozzles of your printer are clogged by dried inks, thats why when it prints, the inks are not equally distributed or is not check that, print a nozzle check, and if you see gaps or breaks, between the lines, do head cleaning. this is how you can do it, its very easy for you. Using the Buttons on the Printer 1. Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing, that the CD/DVD tray is not inserted in the printer, and the red maint.5.1.8.jpg ink light is not on. (If the red maint.5.1.9.jpg ink light is on, you need to replace a cartridge.) 2. Turn the printer off and make sure the front tray is in the paper (lower) position. 3. Make sure letter-size plain paper is loaded in the printer. 4. Hold down the maint.5.1.10.jpg paper button, then press the maint.5.1.11.jpg power button. Hold down both buttons until the maint.5.1.12.jpg power light begins to flash, then release the maint.5.1.13.jpg power button. maint.5.1.14.jpg 5. When the nozzle check starts to print release the maint.5.1.15.jpg paper button. Check the nozzle check pattern that prints to see if there are gaps in the lines. maint.5.1.16.jpg 6. If there are no gaps or lines, the print head does not need to be cleaned. If there are gaps or lines, or the test patterns are faint, follow the steps in do the Head Cleaning to clean the nozzles. Using the Buttons on the Printer 1. Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing, and the red maint.5.1.23.jpg ink light is off. (If the red maint.5.1.24.jpg ink light is flashing or on, you need to replace a cartridge.) 2. Hold down the maint.5.1.25.jpg ink button on the printer for approximately 3 seconds. The printer runs a head cleaning cycle and the green maint.5.1.26.jpg power light flashes. Cleaning takes several seconds. Caution:
Never turn off the printer while head cleaning is in progress. You may damage it.

Do not insert the CD/DVD tray until cleaning has finished. 3. When the green maint.5.1.27.jpg power light stops flashing, make sure paper is loaded in the printer, then print a nozzle check to determine whether you need to clean the print head again. Print Head Nozzles If you don’t see any improvement after cleaning three times, turn the printer off and wait overnight. This allows any dried ink to soften. Then, try cleaning the print head again.

I have an HP LaserJet 4050 and it needs perform printer maintenance. what should i do

it means it is time to do some preventive maintenance on your unit, or keeping the print heads clean
It is important you keep the printer heads clean. This stops ink clogging the nozzles of the printer, and reduces ink smudge on the paper. This is important for HP , as they don’t always do the best automatic clean in my experience.
To clean the print heads, remove the cartridge, and gently clean the print heads with a soft cotton cloth dipped in a little water. I wouldn’t recommend using tissue or alcohol. Be warned!
Make sure the print heads are dry and then replace the cartridge. By doing this you will expand your printer life and the quality of the printouts.
Prevent the printer from drying up ink by using it
I remember taking support calls around a year ago. People would say I haven’t used the printer for over a year, and the quality isn’t what I expected.
If you use your printer regular this will prevent ink drying up and keep the printer and ink in good condition. Use both Colour and black and white prints weekly to stop the nozzles on your printer getting clogged up, or the ink to simply dry up. Be careful with printer jams Don’t ram the paper out if you have a paper jam. This can damage the printer, which I have seen done many times. Look at guides on the manufactures site, if you don’t have time to do that, remember that you want to get the paper out smoothly. Most HP Printers have a hatch attached at the back that can be removed. You will then have access to the paper wheels, and you should be able to see the paper that is jammed in there. Remove the paper this way, and it is unlikely that you will damage the printer. Power down correctly Turn your printer off when not in use. This can prevent drying of ink and also help keep the printer functioning at high quality. Remember to use the printers power button, and them remove at the plug if need be. Don’t power off if you are in the middle of something. These will just cause problems for you. Clean your printer but don’t over do it IF you perform print ink clean by software or your printer’s hardware, do it once and not over and over. Doing this over and over can cause more damage than good. Clean your printer’s encoder strip monthly to stop quality issues at a later date. Remember if you have low ink to replace immediately. This prevents ink being left in the printer heads and nozzles, and will generally give your printer more life.

hope this helps you, dont forget to mark my solution pls.

Black will not print

Hi springfield, From what you describe I don?t think it has anything to do with your printer drivers. I would try the following: -Run a couple of nozzle cleaning jobs. -If no change I would suspect a defective cartridge and would try a brand new HP cartridge. If these don?t work I?ll need some more details such as do you refill cartridges, buy remanufactured cartridges or use new HP. Also is this still under manufacturer?s warranty? I don?t want to suggest anything that would void it. Let us know what happens and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
