Question about iRobot Roomba 560 Robotic Vacuum

1 Answer

IRobot stopped picking up larger bits from the carpet. It picks up the dust, but anything larger, it leaves behind. Have changed the filter/brushes. Is there anything else I need to do

Its sounds like the brushes aren't turning. Pull the vacuum and bin off the back and start it and look to see if the brushes are turning.

Why My Rroomba 560 collects the dirt and after 2 or 3 circles gives it back on the floor. What is wrong?

Sounds like it's picking up the dirt, running it around the brushes and dumping it back out after one full circuit. I would check to see if anything big is caught in the brushes and preventing dirt from going into the filter compartment. Do you need to empty out the filter compartment and shake out or change the dust filter? If the filter is too clogged, dust won't get pulled into this compartment because there's no air passing through the filter to draw air.

My oreck will not pick up dirt from my carpet I cleaned the roller brushes well but there is a tiny bit of dust blowing out of the unit from the bottom

The nozzle behind the roller brush is probably clogged. Take a screwdriver and stick it in there and work it around and see if it loosens the clog.

Does not pick up

Hi There,

It may be that your belt is broken, or stretched out. This will cause the brushes to slow down dramatically when vacuuming the carpets. When the belt stretches, this causes the machine not to pick up on the carpets, and makes it seem that the vacuum is loosing suction.

In order to test this, turn the vacuum on it's side while it's on. Are the brushes spinning? If they aren't, this is because your belt is broken. If the brushes are spinning, the belt still may be stretched. Listen to the brushes as you put them onto the carpet. Can you hear a change in the sound like the brushes are slowing down? If you put just a little pressure on the top of the vacuum by stepping on it, do the brushes stop then?

It may also be the filter is clogged in the machine and needs to be replaced. Bagless vacuums use a HEPA filter in the dirt cup instead of a bag. With a bagged vacuum you just replace the bag when it gets full, but on a bagless vacuum the HEPA filter continually gets debris and fine dust accumulating on it, and needs to be cleaned, and replaced occasionally.

Here's a link to the owners manual for your vacuum. This will explain step by step on how to replace the belt, as well as servicing the filter.

I have cleaned & cleaned this thing! It runs for about 2 mins & stops, says "Clean Brushes"! and now it's very noticeable it's not picking up well... but is picking up a bit. I take the dust bin...

Ok, this is a "Brush Height Adjustment" issue. It will probably work great on a hard surface but on carpet the brushes bog. If you've taken the unit apart already...Sorry....do it again. When you do, you'll see a String which allows the brushes to "Float" on different surface heights. Loosen the screw a little and pull a bit more string through. Re Tighten the screw and put it together enough for a test run. Now reset the roomba. To reset the Roomba, power the Roomba on, and press the Spot, and Dock buttons together for at least 8 seconds. Until it plays a tune. The clock, and any schedule is erased at this time. Try running the Roomba with the dust bin removed to see the brushes spin easier.

Second method, is taking off the bottom cover, and removing the battery. While it's removed, and not plugged into the charger, press the clean button for at least 20 seconds. This will erase the memory. Replace battery, and cover. Run the Roomba to see if the brushes start to spin. You can also remove the brush housing by removing the 4 screws and reseating it, to see if it was a bad connection, since you have the bottom cover off.

No suction on Roomba 560

Larger debris is usually the responsibility of the brushes. Remove the bin and run the Roomba-- are the brushes actually turning? If not, call customer support for a new cleaning head module. If so, remove the grill from the back of the bin. Make sure that the little fan inside is clean, then reinstall the bin on the Roomba and run it. If that little fan doesn't spin, your Roomba has lost vacuum suction and you need a new bin.

The main problem is a weird noise caused by the brush not spinning on the carpet like it used to do strongly leaving a sweep mark on the carpet, which helps pick up the dust through suction. Seems to have lost the power, so I raised it, but it still doesn't pick up that well. What should I do, I already checked the belt, ripped all linen spinned on the brush. It just doesn't leave that mark on the carpet after being swept, it just stops. What should I do? Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. A couple of the problems you seem to be having is that the belt is stretched out and not picking up well and the other is the brushroll is not spinning freely in order to pup the dust and dirt. The average flat belt change is every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and the check your brushroll to see if that spins freely if not it is probably bound up with thread and hair and needs to be cleaned off @ every belt change. If the belt is tight it cleans well and the brushroll does not get a chance to wrap around the brushroll and slow it down. All part of the maintenance of a vacuum cleaner. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
