Our camera has been playing up on and off since date of purchase November 2005. Put new batteries in camera but camera turns itself on and off or tells us that batteries are depleted. We have had the camera back to shop of purchase on numerous occasions to be told nothing wrong with it. Camera has had very little use. We have now had independent person look at repairing camera to be told that camera irrepairable with major faults not worth fixing and not sure of cause. Lucky if we have taken 200 photos approx if that. What do we do now?

I had the same. It turned out one needs batteries with at least 2250mA. Nearly all batteries one buys are max 2100mA. I found 2500mA batteries and that problem was solved.

After i turn on my Optio E10, it shuts off right away even after i put in new batteries.

Sounds like a memory card problem. Try using A 512mb San Disk SD Card. Not a San Disk SDHC card. see if that doesn;t help you out. Good-Luck

Have a Pentax Optio S 12 Digital Camera - battery shows charged - when put in camera and turn on it goes off right away

The battery may be exhausted, especially if it is the original battery. Batteries have a definite life, so I would start by trying a new battery. If that is not the problem it will need to be sent off for repair.

E10 and s45 same problem

the batteries needed for the cameras are quite high powered

though the batteries show that they are fuly charged most times they have lost their actual capacity of power storage in them so not being able to supply enough to start the camera best way to test this is to start the camera on preview mode if this works then you will need to buy a new set of rechargable batteries, i would suggest to take batteries in the range of 2000MAh to 2500MAh and

the normal batteries will not be able to sustain long even for normal lens open and retract functions, instead of normal batteries try LR6 varieties (eg: Duracell, Energizer, etc)

Sounds like battery life is gone. If there rechargeable batteries they might not be holding a charge anymore.

If your camera has a power cord that plug into your camera to charge the battery does it do the same thing?

If it doesn't have a power cord, what happens when you plug the camera into your computer?

Pentax Optio 60 LENS

The same thing happened with my camera, I gave it to a freind for her husband to look at it. He said when turning on face the lens side down (to the ground) when turning off hold lens side up right (to the sky). this worked for mine. I don't know if he did anything else to it but when I zoomed I got lens error. I did what he said and it took several tries but it did work... please post if this helps you.
