Question about Fahrenheat Electric Convector Baseboard Heater, 240 Volt

1 Answer

Smell Hi, We recently installed Fahrenheat model #F2546NWC in our den to supplement our central furnace because the room is on a slab.  It replaced another baseboard heater that made too much noise.  This new heater is quiet, but there's a smell emitting from it that's not going away.  It's a strange heat smell, and we can't stay in the room too long because the smell gets to us.   Is this typical?  Will it go away?  Is it defective?

Re: smell

The heat may be affecting the unit's paint. normally the oil used in manufacturing burns off the first time the unit is used. maybe the proximity of the element to the case is too close.

Need to locate filter on model PGJ042100-1

Filters are usually added to the sheetmetal seperate from the furnace. All air must be filtered before entering the furnace. Turn on heat and feel ductwork to determine which direction air flow goes, warm will be supply and room temp. will be return. Filter should be on return side of furnace. Some of them may be filter grilles located in a central reurn on older homes with only one return in a hallway or sometimes the correct ductwork is not installed and they are inside the bottom panel where return ducts connect

Electrical burning smell in house

Mhenn, It is my guess that the 'electrical burning' smell is from your heating system. Since there is no smoke and the walls are not warm.... then there is no real problem. The smell maybe just dust has collected in the duct work that is burning off the central heating systems electrical heat strips. If you have electrical heat strips then that may be the problem. If you have a central gas heat system, it may be the same type problem. Hope this helps you. Henry

My 200 amp Siemens main electric box is heating

This is a dangerous situation! There is a short in the furnace. It is NOT a breaker problem! You need to check the current draw in the furnace circuit, This requires an Amprobe meter. If you don't have one, contact a technician at once! You have a fire hazard!

Plinthe chauffante baseboard heaters

take a close look at the tubular element with a magnifying glass. the volts value should be stamped into the element. most baseboard heaters are 240 volt at low, high and medium density. wattage could be from 750 to 1500 watts
