You can add an icon to the desktop any time you want, just drag the icon that you want and will be added to the desktop after you drop the icon in there, and for the start menu just right click on start button on your taskbar and go to properties, will show up a dialog box go to the tab start menu and choose start menu and click customize you will be able to add and remove and link from start menu.

SOURCE: icons on desktop cannot be open when clicking

There may be a virus or accidentally changed something that distorted you computer's settings but you can always use the system restore feature to restore your last working settings. You will be needed to select a date you want to restore from. start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore. BUT FIRST!! Create a restore point for this date then select a restoration point since it's working well. This will not make changes to your current documents only the system settings. Did this work?

I somehow delted the icon for my internet browser

Hi. To get your browser icon back, (probably it's been hidden) you only need to go to your main menu, press the menu button again, and you should see the "Show All" option, select it and now you'll see the hidden icons in grey color. When you come over the hidden icons and press menu button, you can select to hide or show them. And when you do the "Show All" steps again and select it again, this time you'll hide your icons selected as hidden. Hope this helps.

Missing "profiles" icon on my BB 8310 curve

In the main screen, before you enter the menu, if you scroll the joystick to the up, you reach the upper profile icon. But to get your old icon back, maybe it's been hidden and you only need to go to your main menu, press the menu button again, and you should see the "Show All" option, if it's selected you can unselect it then you can go back to main menu and you'll see the hidden icons in grey color. When you come over the hidden icons and press menu button, you can select to hide or show them. And when you do the "Show All" steps again and select it again, this time you'll hide your icons selected as hidden.
