Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting...

HI again. To test the thermostats or fuse, set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. You should get a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, the thermostats should have a reading of zero. When the thermostats are heated to their limit temperature, they should switch off and you should get a reading of infinity. The fuse should be tested at room temperature for continuity. If the thermal fuse and thermostats are operating correctly, this will lead to a defective control sector.

Sudden stop

Do you have an error code displayed ? If so what is that. If not the either the door switch is faulty or the control board. More likely to be the door switch but, strange things do happen. Here is the door switch number 134813601. If you need help installing or more info let me know.

Dryer was running and then suddenly stopped. I have checked the power breaker and it is fine, light is on in the machine, and there are no issues with the plug. When I opened the door it was very warm...

check and see if it has blown either of the 30 amp fuses supplying the 220 volts. More likely the duct heater sensor. Small sensor connected by small wires on the air duct found after you remove the front panel.

Loud humming sound while drying, need instructions on disassembly to properly diagnose

Disconnect power to dryer. Open door, remove phillips screw from 4 and 8 O'Clock positions, close door. Use putty knife (preferably a plastic one to prevent scratching) to push in the two clips holding the top to the front panel, then swing the top back, revealing the phillips screws holding the front panel onto the body of the dryer. Remove them and un-hook door switch and drum light connections, allowing total removal of dryer front panel. Remove 4 phillips head screws retaining front drum support and lift it up just a bit to remove it. Reach back under drum to the left side to release belt, allowing drum to come out of dryer.

Dryer suddenly stopped working while drying clothes. There is power because the light comes on when the door is opened.

Try turning the dryer breaker pair in the house electrical panel off then on. Try the dryer again. If still won't work, measure the voltage at the power socket across the two slanted slots--it should read ~230 volt AC. If ok, there are internal problems in the dryer--bad controller, motor not running, or the heater element is bad. If you don't measure ~230 volts, one of the breaker pair is bad or there is a loose wire between the breaker and the power socket. Have an electrician check that out.

Dryer works and tumbles but does not heat

First, you must remove the front panel. Open the door and remove 2 screws on each side of the opening; 2 in the door hinges and 2 directly opposite from them. Then close and latch the door and pull on the top corners of the panel and it pivots down, then lift off the bottom brackets. Then start the dryer (making sure it's not set for air fluff or no heat) and watch the ignitor to the left side of the burner tube. Report back if it glows or not. Also you might include the first two numbers of the serial number so I can make sure we're talking about the same series machine.

Kenmore elite he4 dryer wont run

Hi! crystal2hd
My he3 dryer does not have a door lock. The door switch turns off the light and allows the dryer to start. Make sure this switch is not damaged. Unplug the dryer before removing the front cover.
