Question about RCA TH1101 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Problems downloading... I'm not entirely sure what is causing it, but, I can't download all of my songs onto my mp3 (and I only have 150 something). It says I have all of them when I go to the "explore device" option on windows media player, and yet, when I turn on my mp3, it says that I only have like 59. It is not the same number everytime (yesterday was 73), nolr is it the same songs that successfully download everytime. I have run virus scans on it, which all show up clean, and the player itself is only about 2 weeks old. What should I do?

Also, it tends to randomly turn off, despite the new battery that I put in almost daily, it does turn on again after, but, I wonder if this has anything to do with the problem previously mentioned.....

Make sure the songs are in the correct format. Make sure the songs are not AAC, WAV, streaming, or some other non-supported format
Mp3 players are more complicated than ever. This player may only accept DRM-encrypted WMA files. I would first check the songs that you have downloaded to make sure they did not have "temporary" licenses with a fixed end date. You can do this by right clicking on an individual song, clicking on properties, and selecting the "license," "digital rights mgmt" or "media usage rights" tab - the wording varies by configuration. It will give you info on the license. If the song says that it has no license, it will not work with this player. One remedy is to use mp3 converter software to convert all of those wma files to Mp3's - I don't know of any free ones, but you can certainly look for free Mp3 Converters. Another remedy on unlicensed songs is to hit the "acquire license" link in the license tab, if one exists.

I have purchased a song from my iphone it has downloaded onto my apple mac but it will not play i have not had any problems with it untill now

Unless I have missed something a Apple media download does not have download limits. E.G I installed a new Hdd, so once I log into my iTunes account I can simply download any missing songs again to my library.

I will try and make this as short as possible and hope you understand what I am asking. I just got an Ipod Classic last month and signed up with Itunes and then downloaded about 1300 songs from my cd...

You can't "backwards sync" (put music from your iPod back onto your computer) through iTunes. When you went to sync after you got your fixed computer back, I'm assuming iTunes tried to copy what was in iTunes (nothing) to your iPod, which probably is what caused these problems.

Assuming you still have the music on your iPod, I would recommend transferring the music from your iPod back to your computer (to a folder other than iTunes), restoring your iPod to factory settings, then moving all of the music files into iTunes and re-syncing your iPod.

There are two programs that are available to transfer songs from your iPod back onto your computer. The first is iDump and the second is YamiPod. I have found that iDump is the better of the two.
The link for iDump is:

Hope this helps!

Confused

Before using Frostwire, understand that it is a very virus-prone site - make sure you have anti-virus software on your computer before trying to use. You can't transfer songs directly to your mp3 player through Frostwire, but you can download the songs into the "My Music" folder of your computer - you will have to go into the Frostwire Properties toolbox, and change your download folder from "Frostwire Downloads" to "My Music" in order to make this happen. Once the songs are downloaded onto your computer, open up Windows Media Player - use Windows Media Player to transfer the songs from your "My Music" folder to your Zen. (alternatively, you can change your Library --> Add to Library folders in Windows Media Player to include the "Frostwire Downloads" folder). Good luck - I could probably write an entire page elaborating on each sentence that I have given you here - but Fixya has word limits. :-) Let me know if you need extra help.

Playlist

Yes - instead of dragging an entire playlist or an entire album onto the GoGear, just go to the Sync tab in Windows Media Player and drag the individual song that you want to transfer. The player also has several play modes - repeat, shuffle, etc. - shuffle will give you a certain degree of randomization.
