Hi,

Looks as if the shortcut icon to open Outlook Express has been deleted from your PC.

To search and run Outlook Express, please try the following steps:

1) Open Windows Start Menu by clicking on the Start button

2) Then type Outlook Express in the Serach box in the Start Menu and click OK

3) Now a Search Results window will open with all the files related to Outlook Express, provided that Outlook Express is still installed in your PC.

4) Double click on the Outlook Express icon in the results page to launch Outlook Express.

Also, let us know if have recently installed or uninstalled any programs in your PC or have deleted any files from Windows or Program files folder.

Hope this solves your problem. For more help and clarifications, please reply to this post. Thanks.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    1) Were you able to run Outlook Express earlier on your Vista-based PC? If yes, when was the last time that you used Outlook Express on your PC?

    2) Have you recently made any changes in your system - like uninstalled or installed any software, deleted any files from Program Files or Windows Folder?

Please reply with the details, so that we can assist you accordingly.

    Thanks once again

    Thanks for the reply.

Actually, Windows Vista does not have Oulook Express as an original part of the operating system installation. This is because Windows has replaced Outlook Express with Windows Mail, which is an upgrade to Outlook Express and is much more improved with additional features.

I earlier thought that you had additionally installed Outlook Express on your system.

So, to open Windows Mail, click on Start button, then All Programs and the click Windows Mail.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks.

Which version of IE are you using ?
Outlook Express is the official e-mail software of Windows and can be found on any computer running Windows.
However, there are times when it is missing, perhaps because a previous owner or user uninstalled it.
If you cannot locate Outlook Express in your applications, try re-downloading and installing it.
Finding Outlook Express Downloads

Since Outlook Express comes with the Windows operating system, finding a copy of the installation program could prove difficult; few download sites on the Internet carry it.
Searching for "Microsoft Outlook Express" on the Microsoft.com website will also lead to a dead end.
However, the program is available for download on Microsoft.com under another name.
Download the latest version of Internet Explorer from Microsoft.com downloads section by searching for Internet Explorer and clicking the download; it will be the first download to appear. Doing this will also install Outlook Express on your computer.
Once the setup has begun, Internet Explorer will install, and then the setup for Outlook Express will begin. At this point, the setup program will download the newest version of the software.

Tip

The difference between Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express

1 :Outlook Express was developed as part of Internet
Explorer with the home user in mind while Outlook
was developed as part of Microsoft Office with the
corporate user in mind.
2. Outlook Express is a basic Internet mail program
that is part of Internet Explorer and Windows.
Outlook is a full-featured personal information
manager that is available as a part of Microsoft
Office and also as a stand-alone program.
3. Outlook has a host of features that Outlook
Express does not have, such as a calendar,
a task list, a journal, and automatic backup into
archive files.
4. Outlook can be programmed using Visual Basic
for Applications (VBA) but Outlook Express cannot.
5. Outlook also has a very powerful Junk Mail feature
6. Outlook has message rules for both incoming
and outgoing mail, while Outlook Express can
only filter incoming.
7. Outlook Express was designed for use on a single
computer and so its message store and settings
cannot be stored on a server. Outlook however
was tailor-made for networks, and so its message
store can be on a central server that many
machines can access.

I have windows mail and would like outlook express. Is there somewhere I can download it for free or do I have to buy a program?

If you have Windows Mail, you no doubt are running Windows Vista. Sorry, but Outlook Express is not supported in Vista. You are stuck with Windows Mail or a third-party mail client. FYI, I use Thunderbird and am quite satisfied. It works with Windows XP through Windows 7

Microsoft Outlook Express does not have its own setup program. Outlook Express is distributed as the mail client for Microsoft Internet Explorer. The Internet Explorer setup program includes the option to install Outlook Express. So, download IE latest version and install OE in it.
