New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Fargo DTC400 is giving me "INVALID RIBBON" error

I think you or your machine have answered your own question. The machine said it isn't going to use the 300 ribbon and that is that.

I dont have experience with your particular model but I can tell you a Ford starter will not start a Chevrolet automobile.

I think you should take the 300 ribbon back and get a 400. If they wont take it back, trade somewhere else.

So, what do you say?

Bought a DTC520 and replaced Printer ribbon and now message reads " No Printer Ribbon Installed" Used Part # 86031 DTC500-YMCKO I powered down machine and started again, still NO Ribbon...

You have to check which ribbons are loaded.
Depending on that you have to select the appropriate mode in the driver else it'll keep giving this message.
Y = yellow
M = magenta
C = cyan
K = black
O = overlay
May be you don't have overlay loaded

Fargo does not make drivers for Windows 7, and does not support it. You will need to go to the new models to have windows 7 supported.

I have a persona C30 card printer by Fargo and it keeps telling me that the ribbon is broke when in fact it isn't....I put in a new ribbon cartridge thinking maybe I had a bad ribbon, but that doesn't seem...

run forgo diagnostic utility given on your installation cd
Try by doing all the tools under mechanics tab most importantly ribbon sensor calibration and advance & reverse ribbon drive motor by removing the ribbon as instructed by the manufacturer

Fargo 4250 card printer runs, but doesn't print.

take the ribbon out, and rewind it a little bit and see if you see print on it. if you dont, chances are your printhead is either bad or has loose cables going into it.

if you do see print, either your card is not aligning properly or the head lift motor might not be working (when the unit on, open the door, and press both buttons at the same time and see if the printhead does an up and down motion), platen roller is bad

New ctg. change problems

In the printing preferences there is an auto detect ribbon button . you should select it.
Your ribbon will be updated. Also if printer asks you if the ribbon is correct select yes. The printer will then print on whatever ribbon you have intalled. This doesnt work with test prints
