You will need to disconnect from the network point then see the available networks and then select the one you want to connect to and then enter the security key that is requested.

The key / pass can be obtained from the network security administrator or from your ISP provider if this is your private link. There are no generic pass keys available, they are all specific.

I would also suggest that if this is your private link that you change the security to WPA2 as this is far more secure than WEP.

Your unable to secure your wireless home network? The user manual of the router has step by step instructions if you just bother to read it.

I can help you but first lets make sure that I understood correctly.

Can you clarify, what is ususl network? is that the name of your network or?

what is the brand and model of the wireless network router?

Does your computer have XP? Or vista? or??

I assume you mean a wireless network, is this a wireless network or with a wire? and how are you connecting to it?

I am using presario CQ56 notebook PC, it see all available wireless network but windows was unable to connect. please what should i do?

Most wireless networks are secured. If you do not have the security passkey for the network you are trying to connect to, Windows will be unable to connect. Even some free wireless hot spots require you to get the password from the staff in order to connect. Passwords are case sensitive as well.

Unable to connect to your wireless network
Likely cause: It appears that the security settings entered into the Wii console are not the same as what your wireless router is set to allow.
How to fix: Make sure the security key and security type are entered into the Wii exactly as they appear in your router's settings.

you have to check if you have the wep key enabled. when you put in the wep key, it should also be enabled so that your wireless network should say security-enabled wireless network. make sure to disconnect and connect again on your network after changing the settings to refresh your connection. hope this helps.

WRT54G, unable to install router

  • Since you have Internet connectivity through the router using a direct connection to the router, then you just need to access the router's setup page and re-configure wireless.
  • But first, check if the wireless light is on in the router.
  • Then, using a computer that is wired to the router, launch IE and type 192.168.1.1 on the address field.
  • It will then ask for the password. By default it is admin. Just click ok and it will lead you to the setup page of the router.
  • Then, on the menu click Wireless. Look for wireless network name or SSID. That is the name of your wireless network. By default it is set to "linksys". You may change it to a uniqune name and then save the settings.
  • Then, if you want to enable security in your Wireless network, click on Wireless Security.
  • Set security mode to WPA Personal and create your network key. It should be atleast 8 characters.
Hope this helps!

Can't access router via 192.168.1.1

Hi Again

Answer is simple; network security (WEP or WPA) key is different than regular password. Entry should be Hexadecimal, However you can use pass phrase generator by entering regular characters or you can enter directly. For example if you we want to put to "password" as network key hexadecimal input will be exactly 2B204A3F1042643E480FDD655E for 128 Bit WEP. Since you are unable to reach the router. Please reset it first. so it will be accessible from your computer without Network key. Network key will be enough for the 1st line
Hope you will resolve the issue.

Good Luck

Wireless connection

You will need to speak to the person in charge of the security enabled network, and obtain the type of wireless security (WEP or WPA) and the password.

You should also determine what security types are supported by your own laptop's wireless connection. If it is an older one, it may only support WEP, and you will be unable to connect to any WPA protected networks.
