Question about HP PhotoSmart C4385 All-in-One Printer
The usb connection system to the printer is bit different.you should not connect the usb wire directly to the printer.the procedure is as follows:----- 1)first install the printer driver cd. 2)then let the driver get installed in the pc. 3)in between of this procedure of installation.a message will pop-up on your screen.that please connect the usb wire to your printer.at that time only you should connect the usb wire. 4)after you connect the usb wire a message will pop-up on the screen that usb connection detected.and the installation will start further and get completed without any problem. ----------------------- but if when you connect the usb with the printer and it does not detects then.there are two possibilities. 1)the usb wire is faulty. 2)the port in which usb wire is getting inserted at the back of the pc is faulty.try in another port.if the same problem occurs then its the faulty port. get your printer checked by connecting to any other machine if still the same problem occurs then its the faulty port in the back of the printer where usb wire is getting inserted. --------------- you will have to try this options one by one.either the drivers not installed correctly so install it.or the back of the pc port.or its back of the printer port.or its the faulty usb wire.nothing except that is to be checked.any one out of this faulty. ------------------ thanks.this will help.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

do you have a Wireless Router + Broadband modem?
This is like a base station to which your remote wireless node communicates (to get connected to your home network and internet.
something like this http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=187337 for an ADSL connection.
If you are on cable, you can either get a Router similar to the one above (but for cable) http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1138056788757&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=8875739789B01
or if your Cable modem has LAN ports you may just be able to use an "Access Point" to add Wireless capabilities. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1126536803676&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0367639789B22
