Question about Goodman GMS90703BXA Heater

2 Answers

I had a friend install my new Goodman GMH950704CX 95% 92,000btu 2-stage multi speed furnace. When I switch the thermostat to HEAT and turn it up to 80 degrees, the inducer fan comes on, then the igniter glows, then .... nothing. The igniter dims, the fan shuts off, then it starts all over again.

The most common mistake on these after installation is not flipping the switch on the gas valve from 'off' to "On". Remove the top panel and in the middle of the cabinet the gas line comes into an aluminum looking device. There is a switch on top. If that is on, ensure that the gas has been turned back on.

May be a stuck relay on the circuit board. The only other thing I can think of would be a thermostat having intermittent problems.

If I remember correctly, there are dip switches on that control board that can be set individually. It is possible that it is just a setup issue. The switch positions should be explained in the installation instructions. I know that some Goodman and Amana two stage furnaces can be controlled by a single stage thermostat, but the dip switches have to be set properly. If the switches are set correctly the furnace will run in low stage heat for approximately 5 minutes and if the thermostat hasn't satisfied yet, it will kick in to high stage heat. I hope this points you in the right direction!

New furnace, Water In Induction Motor, Yellow Flame

The problem is too much gas as opposed to not enough air. It is still running rich. Did you take into account the elevation of the location your furnace is installed at. The higher above sea level the less air that you have to aid in cumbustion. The condensation is from excess gas being cold and causing water to accumulate. Can you run it like this? Yes but it will cause issues with soot and carbon deposits. It will also cost you more money in the long run.

Nothing working when thermostat turned on.checked voltage at transformer 110 at top and 24 v at bottom, cant figure out whats wrong .any ideas

Be the thermostat. Kill the power to the air handler so you do not burn the transformer. Remove the thermostat from the wall. Twist the red and white wires together and turn the power back on to the transformer. The heat should come on. If it does, the thermostat is bad. If it doesnt, do the same thing but twist the red, yellow, and green wires together and power the transformer up. The air should come on in cool mode.If it does come on then we know what to check next

Gms81005cn furnace will not light, red light on board not on. Please help!

Is your unit plugged in? Check the breaker in breaker box in the house. Does the fan come on? Is your door switch on the unit pushed in it is located in the fan section on the unit just a push button. This sounds like a power problem. Turn on the fan switch to ON on the thermostat to see if it runs this will tell you if you have 24 volts to the board. If it doesn't run then you have a transformer problem or a board problem. I hope this helps

How do I troubleshoot a goodman 2 stage that always starts at high stage

It wouldn't be stuck if that's the case the valve would never shut off. Sometimes those 2 stage heat thermostats stats call for 2nd stage if the room temp drops more than 2 degrees. Easiest way to check is take the w2 wire off of the tstat and try a call for heat. If the furnace kicks on both 1& 2 stages then its either your wiring on the fan board or a dip switch setting. If it kicks on 1stage then it's your thermostat.

Bryant programmable thermostat doesnt keep the temp have to put it on fan instead of auto

My guess is that you have gas heat. If this is the case, sounds to me like your main control board or depending on age of furnace, fan controller is not working. With gas furnaces, it utilizes 2 fan speeds. High for cooling, & Low for heating. Your thermostat only controls the High speed - switches when you turn your fan on & when there is a call for cooling. The only other thing I can think of is it is possible that the Low speed windings on the blower motor are open causing it to not turn on. Most motors have 3 to 4 speeds & only 2 are used. Switch the heat motor wires in the furnace (on the control board) with one that is on a spare terminal.

Thermostat not connected for Multi-Stage Furnace.

You need to get a service tech to hook it up for you and yes you need to take advantage of the two speed furnace and varispeed air handler. If it is set up correctly you will be more cpmfortable and will have amuch lower energy bills. Tey are not hard to wire but you have to know what you are doing to do it right. So call Goodman service tech out. Amana is the same product so either one. Should not cost very much and it will pay for the service call in a couple of monthe. Rus
