My lexmark x5070 printer keeps saying "cannot retrieve application list" when i try to scan pictures onto my computer. im connected to the internet and i have a gateway laptop with windows 7

Were you able to scan to your Windows 7 before? If yes, it could be just a slight communication problem. Disconnect your printer from your computer. Reboot your computer. Unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect your printer to the computer. Doing this usually fixes minor communication issues. Try to scan again.

Im trying to scan photos and ad them to my computer and i dont seem to have the know how can you help

I will list the steps that will allow you to scan your photos.

1. Turn on your computer, let it bootup, then turn on your printer.
2. Locate the "HP Imaging Director" icon on your computer ( placed there when your printer was
installed on your computer), double click it and a screen will appear which shows the scanning
options of your printer.
3. Lift the printer's lid and place a photo on the glass top.
4. Click "Scan Picture" from the scanning menu.
5. The scanning lamp will come on and make one pass under the photo, as this is happening,
your photo will appear on your monitor, allowing you to see the scanning result.
At this time, you can make adjustments, if you wish, to the scanned photo or accept it as is.
6. Click the "Accept" button and the scanning lamp will make a final pass under the photo.
7. The photo can be seen in the HP Photo Gallery or your computer's My Picture folder.

I hope this helps you.

I dont know how to scan pictures onto my laptop. I dont know what

Another idea: Try as another option, they have two same day photo scanning services, pay $50 to scan up to 1,000 photos, or prepaid box that holds about 2000 photos, all free S&H for $125. David Pogue reviewed

just put in something to scan and hit the bottom button
it should handle the scanning on its own
then look for the picture on your computer

Problem scanning pictures

Check your documents folder under My Scans. I found that my scans were going in there. I had to open them to put them where I wanted them.

I also have the problem of the missing line up upload to my computer. If I restart the computer with the 6280 on the line reappears and I can scan what I want. I have asked HP what the problem is with no real solution. They seemed to think that since it works after restarting the computer that the problem was solved. The option shouldn't disappear from the screen at any time, but I guess I'm stuck with restarting the computer every time the problem comes up. Hope this helps.
