I have a sharp Carousel # r-930AK-f does ot heat

I have a sharp Carousel # r-930AK-f and the tray does not turn, and the microwave does not heat either with microwave or convection. I have tested the motor for the tray and applying 120 VAC, it turns slowly.

I have a Sharp R-930AK 900 Watts Convection / Microwave Oven. The transformer does not appear to be getting any power. When I connect it to an external source, it generates the right voltage and the magnetron appears to work. When I program the microwave for either convection or microwave, the fan spins.

When I put external power to the transformer, it works and the magnotron works. Is there some way to identify how the switching mechanism works? The fan works properly, by not the tray revolution, transformer, magnetornl

I have changed the fuse, if i attach 110 AC to the transformer, the magnetron appears to be working. If I apply 110 AC to the tray, it spins. Less than 2 months ago I replaced the motor. It appears that within the microwave, the circuits for transformer are not getting any electricity, how do the controls work?

Have you check themostate/thermal fuse,1st. I would try to replace them first unless you can check/test it; fuse are 1.50 fairly cheap to replace. 2nd. if the fuses are good, the Magnetron will be faulty. this unit is the main source which create microwave cooking energy, 80 buck to replace and the motor, if its turn slow than usual, 22 buck to replace and you can do all the repair work your self and will last you many more years. you can order the parts though repairclinic.com. hope that help some good luck.

from the wall outlet to your transformer, are you getting voltage output from your transformer, if not, than the transformer need replacing. if you are getting voltage output from the transformer, assuming fuse, fan, motor are good and meganetron working properly, the only part left remaining is circuit board/timer is faulty. The circuit is the brain of the microwaves which make everthing work according to how its program. the parts is fairly expensive to replace, 312 big bucks, for the price you might be better probably getting a new one.

This is a throw away world anymore. There are usually no user servicable parts inside these appliances. There might be a fuse inside but most of them are soldered in and hard to find. The only solution that is readily fixable that I can see is if something is caught or stuck in the open door switch that would prevent the unit from starting properly. Find out where the door latches and check out the latch hole for something stuck inside and possibly clean that area.

Confirm 110-120 volts AC is entering the primary coil on the high voltage transformer....meter works but can be fooled, I usually rig up a light socket and household light bulb and hook that to the 2 input wires for the transformer and see if the light works or not when you run the microwave....can even set a power level and watch the light go on and off. Discharge the capacitor first before attempting any checks or tests.

Scary but works!....

If ok, put those 2 wires back on the transformer. Discharge the capacitor .
Remove the 2 wires going to the magnetron....run the microwave a few seconds ( 2-3 ) and remove power....again discharge the high voltage capacitor . If you got a good crack&spark when you discharge the cap the second time you are creating high voltage but not using it ( bad magnetron or loose High Voltage wire somewhere )....if you get no crack&spark you are not creating high voltage.

----------------------------

    Electrical Issues
  1. If the microwave does not turn on, check to make sure the power cable is connected and not loose. Sharp microwaves automatically shut down any time the door is opened. Check that the door is latched completely. Replace any burned fuses that might cause a shutdown.

Several factors can cause sparks during operation. This should always be avoided because it can damage the system. Remove aluminum objects before cooking. Many utensils and plates have metallic trim that can create sparking. Sharp microwaves use a special interior paint that can cause problems if chipped. Repaint chips with an approved heat-resistant paint.
  2. Heating Issues
  3. Several problems can prevent food from heating properly or evenly. Check that the turntable is rotating completely. Rollers and tracks should be aligned correctly. The glass rotating tray can sometimes come off the track. Be sure that items inside the oven are not touching the interior walls.

If the turntable is functioning but food is still not heated evenly, check these other causes. Interior walls should be cleaned often with detergent and water, and dried with a sponge. This will help the induction of waves. If a buzz emanates from the microwave that does not seem normal, the magnetron might be defective. This is the microwave generator and must be professionally repaired if damaged.
  4. Control Issues
  5. Often, the touch pad buttons can become worn and not function properly. Be sure that control buttons do not become overly wet from water or cleaning. If this occurs, allow the system to dry completely before using.

Most Sharp microwave models use sensitive touch controls. To avoid damaging these buttons, do not press with excessive pressure or use any object to manipulate the control. Doing so can puncture the touch membrane and break the internal switch.

Sharp carousel model number R-930ak + parts The plate inside does not spin sounds like a cheap plastic gear on the bottom is worn out and stripped. MAkes a clicking sound

This problem is commonly caused by a turntable motor that has worn out and needs replaced. The following link explains how to access and replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3555716-replacing_a_turntable_motor_on_a_microwa

For the model number you have listed, the part number is 46-841666-3.

You can purchase replacement parts at searspartsdirect.com.

The site also offers helpful exploded view diagrams to assist you in parts location/identification. The motor is listed at item 001-20 under the "Cabinet" heading. If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: You also consider the turn table coupling, which is item 004-22. The underside of the coupling has a keyed slot that fits on to the turn table motor shaft. If the coupling becomes cracked, or if the keyed slot "rounds out", it may be slipping on the motor shaft and not turning.

Sharp microwave stopped working

Is it totally dead? No display? Or just does not cook? If it made an unusual noise before it 'died' something probably shorted out.... You need an ohm meter to troubleshoot. If the fuse is open, switches and HV circuit need to be checked before replacing fuse. Sometimes on the convection Microwaves (not just Sharp) the fuse will 'rust' and open rather than blow. Or the fuse holder can over heat and fail.

Won't heat food, carousel will not turn, BUT, the control panel seems to work, the clock is still on, and the cooling fan makes noise

Not sure on the particular model but sometimes there is a fuse under the metal cover that can go out. Just be extremely careful and whatever you do don't have it plugged into wall socket.
