However I was unaware that some silicone can be harmful to fish. the ingriedients that were the the silicon bottle we used are: Aromatic Hydrocarbon, Thermoplastic Rubber, Hydrocarbon Resins (Proprietary) & VOC content is less than 350 grams/liter. The silicone most be 100% silicone appropriate for aquarium use. If the sealant tube did not say this on the tube it is not safe for use in aquariums. They sell this type at pet stores that sell fish. Also make sure you use acetone to clean surface before applying sealant.

My glass aquarium cracked. How can I fix it?

There are a few steps to take to fix a cracked tank:
  1. 1. b>Move the fish to a backup tank with cleanwater
  2. 2. Wipe the crack with white vinegarto clean the glass and let it dry completely. This will allow the silicone tostick.
  3. 3. Line the crack withaqua-marine safe silicone gel
  4. 4. Let the gel dry completely(usually overnight) before returning the fish to the water

My Bunn Coffee maker is leaking water from the bottom.

I had the same problem. On mine (and probably yours) the problem was the seal between the (upper) plastic water reservoir and the lower (metal) heating reservoir. No replacement seal is available.

I fixed mine by coating both sides of the old seal with aquarium grade clear silicone sealer - available at pet supply stores. Just a light (1/16") coating is all that's required. Carefully re-assemble and allow the sealer to cure for 24 hours.

I did that over a year ago, and it hasn't leaked a drop ever since.

Water seal between the cold water tray and the heater unit is bad, where can I get a new silicon water seal

The seal is not available. I fixed mine by coating each side of the old seal with aquarium grade clear silicone sealer - about 1/16" thick.
Re-assemble and allow it to cure for 24 hours.

The (plastic? rubber?) trim strip running along the roof and body of the car appears to be loosening. During an overnight heavy rain it must have leaked on the left side since the driver's seat was...

Actually, your idea is very close to what the car dealership would do, but not tell you that's what they did. Just make sure you wipe the area(s) clean with rubbing alcohol and do not use any type of conditioner to the pieces that will have silicone placed around\under them as, this will prevent the silicone from making a proper seal and you could lose your rubber pieces going down the road.

Once you have put your silicone in and have put your rubber pieces back into their grooves, give the silicone 24 hours to set. This way, the bond is tighter and this should also fix your leaking issue.

Hope this helps.

Oil pan replacement

No! Find the pan and remove all bolts holding it on. clean off old seal and silicone. After this keep the rubber parts to gasket and replace old gasket with a strip of RTV high temp silicone. (RED) any Q's just write.

Replace new moen 1200 stem, still leaks due to scratches housing

The proper fix for this is to hone out the scratches

take steel wool and wrap it around a dowel or piece of wood or ust stuff it into the housing and turn back and forth to smoth out the scratch

if the scratch is real dep you wll have to go to harbor freight and get a honing tol that fits on the end of a drill

the stem should have some type of crown washer that you should be able to get an assortment from lowes , ace or hd

If you are asing for a recommendation for a good silicone I always use GE silicone it is the best

as a last resort (if nothing else works to stop leak

I would take cartridge wall and streatch teflon tape as tight and smooth as possible to block water coming up between housing and
cartrideg this is not recomended by mfg just a spa (my initials) certified suggestion

Good luck

Water leaking from A/C

ok this unit should have a silicone seal around the pan so water does not collect under it if old silicone is worn away scrape old silicone away and redo new silicone around unit so it sits properly make sure all the water is gone before sealing because you run the risk of mold build up under it; let it dry or help it dry thats up to you

but would like little more info on what this is on
