The motor runs fine out of the water, but fails under load

The motor runs fine out of the water, but when you put a load on it , the motor dies out in minutes. I can hear a squeeling sound coming from the foot pedal. If after it dies out and quits moving the prop, I press on the pedal to accelerate it pops the cover on the battery.

SOURCE: Prop spins slow on any speed on the foot pedal

There is a good chance that the control board is bad. This is a common problem with these units. I have replaced my control board twice. When the control board goes out, some function of the unit will not work correctly while other functions work fine. The first time mine went out, the prop motor would not work. The last time the board went out, the unit would only steer right.

Ignition or carb issue. Basically it runs fine under no load (out of water) but doesn't under load. Just had the same problem with a merc150. Diagnosis revealed a failing coil pack and a dirty carb on the same cylinder.

Honda rotor tiller dies under load but runs fine other wise

Its running lean. There might be a small amount of water in the bottom of the bowl that gets sucked up when the motor is under load and requires more fuel.
There is a drain plug on the side of the bowl. Use a 10mm wrech and remove the plug. Catch the fuel and inspect for water. If water is found drain system and refill with fresh fuel. If no water is found then a carb rebuild is needed

I have a 20 hp mecury jet outboard motor that runs fine out of water but as soon as you put it in the water it'll run for a few seconds and then die and will not run again. It will soind like it&#

the rubber components of the fuel system from the tank, primer bulb hoses , fuel pump all deteriorate internally and the small rubber failings get to the carby and block all of the run circuits
experience says take it to a mercury service center and have the carby/s professionally overhauled as doing ti at home generally misses the important bits
never use e-mix fuels as the ethanol attracts water and the combination rots metal bits and hoses

While at the river try to adjust the fuel air mixture. When you are on the water it puts the engine under a load and if that dont work then dont be afraid to bump up the idle stop screw slightly.

Queen marathon 20 years old does not pump the

If the motor is running then the water pump or the clutch to it has failed. If the motor is not running, the motor has failed. Both fixes are probably too expensive for a 20 year old machine. Unless you are very handy and resourceful it may be time for a new machine.

Husky 455 dies out at full throttle or under load

Your carb may be the issue but your ignition coil could be the culprit. Once they start going bad, they can act up intermittently or give various symptoms from day to day. The fact that your saw dies at full load or under load, probably means that when your saw gets hot or requires more spark, your coil is not able to provide it. Your carb is easy enough to clean out, you can take it all apart and clean all screens, etc....

I just replaced my coil due to the exact same symptoms and now my saw runs great. $60 off ebay and you can put it on in 15 minutes yourself. Check your carb first though

Under load the engine sputters and backfires.

I had the same problem; The first 2 years the engine ran fine and then the third year it started backfiring, so I put a new carburetor on my engine and the same thing happened. The real problem was the valves needed adjusted. Yes I know, this is very rare, but it did happen. I decided not to try this adjustment myself and opted for a mower shop to do it. It cost about $50.00 and the engine has been fine ever since.

Compressor wont run unless I cover the air intake where the filte

Most compressors have an in-tank check valve that prevents pressure in the tank from loading the compressor and forcing the motor into overload. The pressure switch also has an unloader that releases pressure in the system so that the motor will not strain when it recycles. When you restrict the intake, the compressor is unloaded thus the motor will continue to run. There may be a problem with the checkvalve or the motor may have a weak or failed capacitor. Some meters have a capacitor test to check if the capacitor is the problem. Reject the capacitor it it tests out of range more than ten percent. enjoy
