There are 2 things that can be wrong with the needle not catching bobbin thread.

1. Bobbin not wound or installed correctly.

2. Incorrect bobbin type

Good luck

Hi,

Let's start with some basic causes. Check the following and let me know if this would fix the issue :-

  • Machine is not threaded correctly
  • Needle is bent, worn, or defective
  • Needle is installed incorrectly, perhaps it might be in backwards
  • Top thread is too tight
For the above conditions, following is what you need to do :-

  • Check the thread path and re-thread, check your machine manual for instructions.
  • Replace the needle
  • Reinstall the needle, check you machine manual for instructions
  • Check the thread path and re-thread, check your machine manual for instructions
Let me know, if problem still persists.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

First change that needle, it's probably bent. Then double check the bobbin/shuttle area for threads wrapped around moving parts.

Take off your throat plate and make sure that there is not a piece of your needle still in there, brush it out and oil your machine if it needs it. Now rethread.

I have a ce 100 and the bobbin thread comes up and gets into my embroidery pattern. how do i loosen the top tension to stop this from happening. my purple flower has white in it from the bobbin :(

Just an FYI-the bobbin thread needs to match your top thread. The majority of the thread that appears in the top of your embroidery actually IS the bobbin thread. The machine is working correctly. Don't use a bobbin full of white thread-instead, thread a bobbin with the color your doing the embroidery work in to match and you will have a perfectly beautiful embroidery.

I have a WHITE 3300 EMBROIDERY MACHINE and the thread bunches up at the bobbin site. I have tried a new needle, adjusted upper thread tension , changed bobbin threads and nothing helps, it keeps bunching...

Refer to your machine for cleaning the bobbin area.

You will need to clean this area often as lint and thread snips can build up can cause the bobbin feed to malfunction.

If this continues after you have cleaned the machine, the timing may need to be adjusted by a sewing machine tech.

Top thread won't catch the bobbin thread

First check the upper and lower tension adjustments according to link below and then check the knob (bobbin case) that makes the bobbin tension which lies inside the shuttle if it is too loose. Restricted it with the sheet metals around it so that it shouldn't move so freely up and down or back and forward. Be careful it should move freely a little but not too much.

Try putting a new sewing machine needle in and make sure the eye of the needle is facing the right way. Needles look like they should go just anyway, but if they aren't in right, it could cause the problem you are having.

Not picking up the Bobbin thread

Sounds like you have to take off the throat plate and clean out threads under it.  Sometime they ball up and prevent the needle from going down and catching the bobbin thread. You can't see themuntil you take off the plate.  Follow the directions.  It is easy.
