Hi there,
looks like windows does not know how to handle the monitor.
You may try to disable the onboard graphic card in the BIOS before
hooking up the monitor to the nvidia card. then try to run windows in safe mode(by pressing F8 when booting up), it'll run windows with the lowest available resolution, which will be supported by the monitor.
Now download appropriate driver for monitor, install and reboot.

That should do the trick

good luck

SOURCE: W17e says "input not supported"

Hi - here's what I found about your wide screen monitor:

The HP Pavilion w17e LCD wide-screen monitor has the following features:

  • 1440 x 900 factory-set resolution
  • Supports VGA analog signal video input
  • Plug and play capability, if supported by your computer system
  • On-screen display (OSD) adjustments for ease of setup and screen optimization
  • Energy Star compliant
Download & install the drivers for the monitor based on the version of Windows you are running from the HP site below:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&cc=pe&dlc=es&product=3377546&

Once the drivers are installed, your issues should be resolved - the driver will allow only the modes that can be displayed on the monitor - probably giving you options for resolutions you hadn't seen before.

Not quite sure what the question is that you have not already answered for yourself.
That monitor's maximum resolution is given as 1440 X 900 at 60Hz and installing a more powerful video card won't change that.

Connect Dell Inspiron 6400 to VIZIO E601i-A3 60-inch 1080p LED HDTV using VGA Connector

When you connect the vizio try changing the resolution settings on your laptop to see if that makes a difference. Could be that your video card output is not really compatible with the higher requirements of the Vizio.

Tip

LAPTOP to TV Connection

Many people today want to connect their computer to a TV. Most HDTVs today have a VGA input for computer hookup. Most laptops also have a VGA output for external display. Using a male to male VGA cable, the computer can use a HDTV for a display. Sound is connected using a 3.5mm audio cable. See this web page for complete details.

The screen resolution setting determines how much information is displayed on the display screen. It is measured horizontally and vertically in pixels. At lower screen resolutions, such as 640 x 480, fewer items will fit on the screen, but they will be larger. At higher resolutions, such as 1600 x 1200, more items will fit on the screen but they will be smaller. The resolution options will vary with each computer based on the video card device, monitor size, and video & monitor drivers. If the screen looks distorted or fuzzy, then you may have an incorrect screen resolution size set for your monitor. In Windows you can change the screen resolution to match the TVs capabilities. My compaq computersceen says input not supported

i think your cpu settings you changed to high resolution. That resolution is not supporting by your monitor. If you have another monitor connect to that monitor to your cpu and change lo some low resolution. If monitor is not there try to boot in vga mode for that mode you need to press "F8" button on booting. It show you some modes select vga mode and boot and change the resolution and restart your system

My viewsonic Va712b monitor does not allow higher resolution than 800x600 resolution

ok, you need to know and to do
1) your monitor can be up to 1280X1050 resolution and automatch to destop one,
2) you need clean Rams first(reinstall Rams to make connection well)
3) the windows xp sp3 it can not support onboard VGA higher resolution without original motherboard video driver,
3) in this case your destop maybe lost the original driver so you need check the onboard video driver at hardware managment, there is a yellow mark at video device.then find a matched driver to update. still unfixed means your onboard video chips has some problem.and then
4) you may insert a AGPvideo card to AGP slot and install its driver should be fixed well.
hope to help you fixed it ,any question feedback to me please

Cannot get correct resolution

1. It could be limitation of your video card. Older cards would not support high resolution for LCD monitors.
2. Be sure to use DVI(digital) output from your video card. You will not get a good resolution with VGA(analog)
3. When installing driver for a monitor sometimes you will get a chose to install analog(VGA) or digital(DVI) driver. Choose the correct driver.

Good luck!
