Question about Hardware & Accessories
Can you direct me to a user guide? I've moved to a property with a Drayton SM1 timer & don't know what the Advance button does.
The advance button send the current program to the next state. So if you have 3 on - off cycles programmed per day and you are currently at the second on cycle then by pressing advance the program moves to the second off part of the cycle and will stay off until the next on command time is reached. So if you are on Heating the advance will only affect the heating. Similarly if you are on Water then it will only advance the water program.

Just a note... I did not find a SM 950 but did manage to locate a SM 980
The website above links straight to This link: http://www.draytoncontrols.co.uk/content.aspx?id=2649
Under documentation they have programming instructions for the SM1 and SM2 that mention the SM980 under SM1 mechanical time switch here:
