Re: computer shuts down

PIease clean your drive with lens cleaner & clean the DVD, CD disks.I think it is the problem of power supply unit(SMPS). check the SMPS output voltages or change it to higher wattage. (300 to 450 watts) . when we are trying to play DVD 's CD 's , it takes more power from the SMPS unit, so there is a lack of wattge and it makes the system restart.

Re: computer shuts down

The only thing i can think of there is that you have some kind of fault, or maybe try to do a system restore by clicking on start, all programs, scroll up to accessories then to system tol them follow instructions, restore it back a few weeks try that

CD\DVD driver device driver is missing

separate drivers are not required for all current operating systems (win98, me, 2000, xp, vista, w7, linux, openbsd, mac os etc.) as support for internal cd/dvd's is built in.

If you are trying to play a dvd movie you need software to do so. vlc from is available for most if not all of these operating systems and can play dvds.

if your device is an external usb cd/dvd drive you only need drivers for early versions of windows, such as win98.

Hi my computer doesn't see dvd/cd drives .When i pull it up in device manager it shows drives but they have a yellow exclamation point in front of drives what can i do . thanks hotrize

Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. or
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard or

you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall your DVD/CD then reinstall the driver for this device
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll down cd dvdrom drives if you see a yellow question or exclamation mark? ! or a red x right click you will need to update the driver or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
hope this helps you

The DVD/CD drive on my Medion 8830 PC no longer burns

Have you changed or upgraded your OS recently?
Looks like the drivers are corrupt or out-dated.
Might go to your computer mfg support site or the Drive mfg support site and download the latest drivers.
Uninstall whatever drivers are loaded reboot and reinstall fresh copies.

My optiarc 7530b Drive,no longer reads cds or dvds.plz help!!

Sounds like drive drive has took a dump on yah. I would just install a new dvd drive. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. I replaced a drive that was doing the same thing you discribed and it solved my issue.

NEC CD RW NR 9200A not reading or writing

This is not a driver issue but to make sure, uninstall it from device manager and reboot. The computer will automatically find it and install them again.

The issue is with the hardware itself; the drive will need to be replaced and they can be had for under $25 for a DVD burner which will do more than what the one you have now will.

Shut down the laptop completely and then Remove the CD/DVD Drive from your laptop and restart it. Then See whether it notices it absence or not. Shut It down completely and then put the CD/DVD Drive back in and then Restar it and check again whether its appearing or not. if not then-----------> Go to BIOS and make sure that bios is detecting the CD/DVD Drive and its ON. It would Surely solve the problem. Install any New Firmware From For The CD/DVD Drive available on the HP website.
