Shuts down intermittently while watching DVD's

Sometimes the Sony player won't turn on, when you press the on button the green light comes on briefly then turns off again. And again when it does power up and a DVD loaded it plays for a period of time and then shuts itself down with no memory of the original DVD.

Can you please send any assistance to [email protected]

Firstly thanks for the information, I have removed the power supply board and there is two square capacitors near the fuse inbetween two chokes however there is a electrolytic capacitor located at C110 which is a 400V 56 microfarad which appears to look ok!

    Any other suggestions!

You may open your dvd casing and check with the capacitor next to the fuse this is busted you may notice that it deformed, remove and replace with the same specifications

kp57ws50_57_in_rear_projection_hd_228277.jpg Problem with Sony KP-57WS520 57 in. Rear Projection

This model is really prone to one problem in particular--screen even briefly comes up bright red, green or blue and set shuts down.

15 seconds from turn on front power light should blink as set checks several things internally---if something wrong it does not let picture show.

Usually after shut down or failure power light will blink a sequence of blinks but not always depending on problem.

Did you see the screen at all go red, green, or blue before?

the more you tell me the better I can help

Need to turn OFF progressive scan on Sony DVD DVP-NS57P

With the remote: While in STOP mode, press the DISPLAY button. Use up/down buttons to select SETUP. Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select CUSTOM.Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select SCREEN SETUP. Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select PROGRESSIVE. Press Enter. The manual is a bit indistinct after this, but I think the prompts will direct you. Just turn Progressive OFF.
