Question about HP PSC 1315 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have had the same problem. I took my ink cartridges back to shop and they tested them and the colour ink cartridge came up as faulty, so they changed it for me and have now been able to print. So I would suggest you try that.

Did you clean the contacts inside the printer as well as the ink might be built up where cartridge contacts touch the printer contacts in the housing. You have to be quite careful here as there is a small metal spike which grips the printer and you do not want to push this into the contacts in the housing. Just get some damp tissue and rub it over these contacts to clean up any residual ink( turn off the printer first)

Please remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a dry lint free paper towel and gently wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge (not the bottom from where ink is present). Wipe the contacts inside the printer (on cartridge carrier). Please snap the cartridges back into the cartridge carrier and please try to print a printer self test.

SOURCE: cartridge 57 failed

I think I may have solved this problem. What I did was take out the #56 cartridge and hit the print button. It started to calibrate and then said it was printing on reserve or something? Yup, it printed with only one (#57 cartridge). After that, I stuck in a new #56 cartridge and so far so good for it only happened yesterday.
I hope this solves your cartridge #57 failed problem. Let me know if it does.

Are you using HP factory new cartridges or some third party cartridges or even wores a refilled cartridge?
80% of the time, that's the cause of the failure.
