Please go to my website http://www.the-inkstore.co.uk . I have the latest version of SSC Service Utility to download directly onto your computer and instructions on how to use it, what to click on etc etc. Click any of the Epson links if you can't find it, everything you need to know will be there, including printer Firmware resetting which sorts out a multitude of problems.

The 'maintenance required' problem with Epson printers has absolutely nothing to do with which cartridges you are using, it is a built in page counter in your printer firmware, which has a different maximum amount for each Epson model. Don't listen to old wives tales and heresay, we are the experts and it's an Epson scam to cause a lot of people to pay for maintenance or throw their printers away.
I haven't found a model that can't be reset with the latest version of SSC Serve or the manual reset on my site.

For Epson RX500 users there is also a manual reset on my site, as the SSC Serve software won't do it for you.
When using the program & choosing your printer from the list, it may have a weird name with 'x' in the model number, this is because some configurations are for many models in a series. For example, the C46 will be listed as C4x as it is for the C42, C44 & C46 models.

I hope this helps all Epson users to overcome the Epson scam of page counting and locking out until you pay their dealers money for maintenance.

If you like what I've done for Epson users, please show your appreciation by spreading the word and perhaps buying your ink from my site.

Happy trouble free printing

SOURCE: epson stylus 1400 service utility SSC

The free SSC utility which will reset the waste ink pad protection counter in most Epson inkjet printers can be downloaded from
http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml. Remember though, if you don't change the ink pads, there will be an increasing danger of ink leakage from your printer, particularly if you tip it up for any reason - VERY messy, and it can clog up your printer mechanisms.

I have an epson NX400 inkjet printer, all ink cartridges are full and are installed correctly. When trying to print, the black ink is not being printed. I have tried doing several head cleanings,...

hey friend,

This should be the problem of print head ink nozzle block. The nozzle for the black ink cartridge got dry.So the ink getsdried state. It won't allow any inks passing through the micro nozzles.Head cleaning won't help with the heavy nozzle block. So try replacing a new black cartridge or else bring the printer to the nearest service center. It'll help so.

My epson cx5500 does not print (test print ) I've been through a nozzle check and have fresh cartridges.... just end up with a blank page

If the inkjet printer has not been used for some time, and the ink cartridges are full then the print head nozzles may be blocked. If running the maintenance nozzle cleaning does not clear the print head nozzles then the print head will need to be replaced.
NOTE - inkjet print heads are not cheap, it may be better to purchase a new inkjet printer.

I have a 4 month old epson sx215 printer... everything was working fine two days ago and today i went to print some very important documents and my black ink wont work... the inks are all full, I have done...

you have two option,
1.you can do nozzle check and head clean , many time can repeat, there is any improvement you can continue the same process.it will work
2.change print head(better go for new printer, you should understand one thing, Epson print head along with printer so, you have to take printout at least every day one copy,if you are using HP inkjet printer, this kind of problem you can solve every easily, just change cartridge only, because hp cartridge along with print head not with printer.

Problem with printing - streaks yellow and green not all colours are printing, not used for some time but new cartridges have been put in

Follow these steps to print a nozzle check:

  1. Turn off the Stylus CX.

  2. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder.

  3. Press the cp_button_48_er.gif ink and cp_button_1.gif On buttons together and hold them down for about 3 seconds.

The Stylus CX turns on and prints a test pattern, which includes anozzle check. Shown below are some examples of what the nozzle checkmay look like.

Nozzle check pattern with no gaps im_158_er.gif
Nozzle check pattern with gaps im_159_er.gif

If any of the colors is missing, perform a head cleaning routine. It appears that the magenta head is having some problem. Try printing again after performing a head cleaning task. If the problem continues you might need to replace the head.

Thank you.

I replaced the ink cartridges on my Epson C40UX and after several cleans and nozzle checks only the blue and yellow inks are coming out

I presume your printer was printing all colours before the cartridge change. If you removed the old cartridges a few hours or more before you fitted the new ones, it is very likely you have nozzles clogged with dried ink. If this is the case, do a head soak as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves out of its parking position, pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head by hand fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Do not turn the printer on at any stage in this process. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then turn the printer on and try a head clean/nozzle check again. If you now get any of the missing colours on the nozzle check, then there is hope! Try 2 or 3 more head cleans (but no more). If still not a full print, repeat the soak process until you get a full nozzle check.

If the new cartridges went in immediately after the old ones came out, it is unlikely to be blocked nozzles. If you changed the cartridges without using the proper procedure with an ink charging cycle, you may well have got air into the nozzles. This just takes patience - try a daily head clean to see if the ink gradually appears.

Finally, you may have faulty or out-of-date (dried-out) cartridges. The easiest way to check this is to try new cartridges in the nozzles that don't print, making sure you use the proper cartridge exchange procedure. Compatible cartridges are very cheap on ebay - £3 a set in the UK.

Please come back with further information on what you have tried if none of this helps.

Not printing magenta ink and tried cleaning heads already

Hi, one or two head cleans won't clear a clogged nozzle. Try doing 4 or 5 head cleans, wait about 10 hours for the ink to soften and do another 3 or 4 cleans with a nozzle check after each. You should see a gradual improvement in the nozzle checks. If there is no improvement then you need a head cleaning solution such as this one:
http://www.powerklin.co.uk/?gclid=CNGDypir-JgCFQ4yQgodZlC4lw

Others are available just try googling "inkjet head cleaning".
Note that head cleaning uses between 5 and ten percent of your ink cart's, if any are low on ink have some new ones ready. Hope this helps.
Please take a moment to rate this solution, thanks.

Are you confident the new cartridges are full and in-date? Can you confirm that the old cartridges were not removed until immediately before the new cartridge was installed. Did you remove the yellow tape from the new cartridges before you installed them? Were the cartridges changed properly such that an ink charging cycle occurred. Have you carried out any head cleaning cycles recently? If not, do it. Then do a nozzle check print. Any improvement? Yes, but not perfect? If so do a couple more head cleans and nozzle checks. If still not perfect, let it rest for 24 hours to disperse air bubbles. Then repeat.

If you have already done lots of head cleans with no result, and you're sure you have good ink cartridges properly installed, then you can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. Carefully push the print head fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean/nozzle check again. If still nothing, post a new comment detailing what you have done and the results.

Epson rx620 pink color missing lines

This is aimed at arbat, since it's an awful long time since tomintown had the problem!

Are you confident the yellow cartridge is good? Have you tried replacing it? If you are confident that the yellow cartridge is
working properly, then you can try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head assembly by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head assembly fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then try a head clean again. If still nothing, report back.
