Geekman; I'm trying to get my account settled out here, and I'm not quite sure how this all works yet. I see where you're going with your solution, but I need more detail,

actually it was an error that it came up under printers. I have an Intel Mobile Pentium 4 that is telling me through the "wireless network connection" window that it is connected to the internet, but when I go to pull up my browser, or update my itunes, it tells me the computer can't connect to web

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

Awesome, I'm going to print this out and try each of these in succession. I will get back to you when one of them works, (or doesn't work). I appreciate your thorough response. Talk soon.

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

    solution one did not work.

Solution two is quite a bit more involved, but I'm getttin to work on it.

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

I plugged in my grandma's ethernet cable and my connection came right up. I was able to brows. My Operationg system is Windows XP, and I'm not sure who manufactured my wireless card or how I could get that information. I am also not sure if I have a firewall up. I don't believe so, but maybe.

I haven't been near this lab top in 8 months and I'm trying to get back in working order.

I don't have any idea what you mean by the "ping command," but I could intuitively fumble through it if you explain further.

Again, my computer is still telling me it is connected with excellent strength to the wireless network here. I just can't get on the web in spite of this.

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

scratch that last message. I just read the second part of your messege where you describe the ping command. I'm currently trying that route.

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

    first ping127...worked. 4 of 4 returned.

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

ping did not work. It sent me back the prompt, "request timed out...." repeated 4 times.

So, apparently, I can't talk to the router? I'm a moron on all this tech stuff. When my card is receiving a signal it is receiving it from my grandma's wireless modem, isn't it? Modem? Router? Same thing I thought. Please don't laugh, thats why I pay organizations like this to help my pea brain through this stuff.

What does this last ping failer indicate?

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

okay so 1st ping worked, second ping didn't work. the release and renew ipconfigs obveousely didn't work because I've plugged my ethernet back into my grandma's computer to talk with you. I'm trying to Google ping right now.

I want to mention...several hours ago when I turned my laptop on, and saw that it was getting a wireless signal, as it still is, it was loading the Google default page. When I tried to navigate away it gave me the disconnected page, but then when I closed down and opened back up, it was on the google page again...which is my default for this computer.

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

alright, finished with what you've recommended so far.

    1. ping worked.

    2. ping did not work "request timed out"

    3. ipconfig/release could not be performed while media was disconnected

    4. same with ipconfig/renew, but ethernet connection is not what I'm concerned about.

    5. "pinging returned a "ping command couldn't find host," prompt.

    6. "pinging didnt' work either. It returned this messege: "request timed out."

What the heck is going on here. I need the ether cable for this desk p.c. and I'd like to have my lap top behind me running off of its wireless card as it says it is.

Thank you for you assisstance, you seeem like a saint.

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

I'm just curious, what might be going on here. I tried those solutions, and none of them seemed to provide the right salve as you can see. My "Wireless Connection Window," is still telling me I'm connected, but I cannot connect to Google, or the web in general.

  • dustin_bell Sep 29, 2009

to make it simple, where do I go within the OS to find out what kind of wireless care I have in here. I bought it off of a buddy, and I've gone through what lump of papers he gave me in the transaction. There is no mention of the wireless card?

Lets try various things to solve your issue:

If the others can access the internet, then we have to assume that the router is connected correctly.
Therefore it must be the settings on your computer.

So open Internet explorer - Tools (ALT+T) - Internet Options - Connections (Tab) - It should have 'never dial a connection' selected.

Hit the Lan Settings button and select 'automatically detect settings', click ok. Now restart the internet explorer and try connecting to Itune and other website and check whether it works

What router, wireless card (a/b/g/n), Operating system are you using. Do you use a software firewall which blocks your connection, if so which one?Can you connect to the router using a physical ethernet lead, and if so does the internet work using that? you have to try all these..

The ping command sends a sonar type ping to another computer/website/router - it's the tool used to identify if your PC can see any other computers. If ping works, you will get a reply like this
    Reply from bytes=32 time=43ms TTL=244
if it fails, you will get a Request timed out message.

So we will try ping and check the issue

Try these command from a Dos prompt (start, run and type cmd (or command)) and post back with the results

ping - if this works, you have tcp/ip installed (good).
ping / ping (try both depends on router) - can you talk to the router?
ipconfig /release - Drop the ip address assigned to your PC
ipconfig /renew - Pickup a new address from the router.
ping - if this works, but IE doesn't, then this indicates problems with your IE config (Tools/internet options/connections/lan settings screen)
ping -if this works, but pinging google doesn't, then you have a dns problem (the dns server translates the name google to the ip address, a basic function required for the internet to function)

Let us know how you get on with all thes results,PLease leave it as comment so we can solve your issue..

Please leave me comment after trying the above things and we amy solve your issue..

This could be like this, if your laptop recognizes your grandmas signal rather than the router, you wont able to do that..

You router cant be pinged, this means you are not connected to the router

Think your grandma laptop must be visible to you and you would have connected to his laptop...

And finally Check the standard of the wireless router and your laptop wireless card, FOr eg if your Router is wireless b/g standards then your laptop must have either b or g wireless card..If your router has A standards then your laptop should have A card, If this conflict occurs then you wont able to use the connection from the router..

Please leave your router name and your Wreless card name, ill check for the conflict and assist you furthur

Please leave it as comment, and we may solve your issue..

In the wireless network connection icon, Below that you can see the CONNECTED words with the name of your caed, written below that

Please leave it as comment, we may help you to solve your issue

Does bill consolidation loans for bad credit really work?

If you have bad credit at that point you won't qualify for actual credit where you pay off your financial obligations with a loan from a bank as well as salary that back in month-to-month installments. Debt consolidation typically describes a high-risk practice of financial debt settlement: purposely skipping on your charge card to attempt to force your creditors to settle for less. Stay away from any sort of "financial debt consolidation" professional that guarantees to slash your financial debt as well as repayments in half with debt settlement deal ... This is a high-risk strategy of purposely stopping all payments to creditors as well as requiring your accounts into default to try settlements. You pay a monthly cost to a debt consolidator ... this entire fee goes to building a negotiation account as well as to the consolidator's charges to "settle" your accounts in the future. Your charge card business will deliberately not be paid so that all the accounts will default/charge-off so that they can try settlement deals at around 50 %. If you are present on your accounts, this process will definitely ruin your credit ranking for sure. Financial debt settlement is like a roll off the cubes with your financial resources ... You could never anticipate just how your creditors will answer the thoughtful skipping of your accounts ... they might settle at 50 % ... or they might serve you a summons, take you to court ... and if they earn, you might be considering wage garnishment.

Can you help me shop on ebay? I dont have a credit or debit card, what else can i do? Thanks.

YOu can go to and establish an account. It can be linked to your checking or savings account or to a credit or debit card. Your choice. It is a very secure way to deal with online purchases. If there is ever a problem with the buyer then paypal will help you settle the dispute and make sure you get your product or help you get your money back. Most ebay sellers prefer to work with paypal.

Moved frig then plugged in and ran for several days then quit, then two days later started again and then a week later quit again? Frig is a ten year old side by side Kenmore about 21 sq feet, ice maker...

If you didn't give it enough time for the oil to settle back in the compressor that could be the problem. I would try leaving it off for a day to see if it will settle down and run better.
