Hello there..

I know this is something you probably want to hear, but i think that the power supply unit of your laptop is the problem. I had a fujitsu armilo, and it did exactly the same. When i pluged in the cable, the battery light went on, but when i hit the boot button, i hear a slight clicking noise, without the notebook starting up.

Well, you say you have tried with your battery and cable, so the logical steps to take, is trace the electricity flow, thus power supply unit, then the motherboard. I really hope this can help you. PleASE rate this.

Best regards

Problem may be a simle matter of the battery contacts needing to be adjusted so they make better contact for charging and use. Use a needle and ~GENTLY~ raise contact bars on either laptop or battery.

hi hope you are well, there could be a few issues that caused this, if you have another system where u can test that all components are working then try to do that, if you already did and nothing happened. Unplug the system and remove the battery. Hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then try powering up -- if it won't, the motherboard is faulty, and you'll need to replace it am really sorry could not be of further help..

How do I get my computer to recognized my new ac power adapter?

The computer doesn't need any drivers to recognize an AC Adapter. If you have purchased the correct AC Adapter for your laptop then it should just work when you plug it in. If it does not then my guess is either you have received a faulty AC Adapter or the DC Jack which you plug into in the back of the laptop is bad.
I am assuming your battery is dead and when you plug it in and turn it on nothing happens?
You can also try taking the battery out and try to power it on with the AC Adapter plugged in.

The Dell Latitude D610 takes a PA-10 or PA12 AC Adapter. It's 65W or 90W

For 90 watt Adapter the output voltage on your AC Adapter label should read 19.5V and 4.62A
At least that's what the Dell brand reads so it should be close to that.

Dell d610 wont turn on ac adapter light is green

There is a small IC that Dell solders into their power supply as well as their batteries. When this parts fails you will have the type of problem you are having now. If you do a search on the web you will find a large number o sites that discuss this. Unfortunately there is no fix other than replacing your power supply. I had to do the same thing myself for the Dell laptop I use.

Dell Latitude D610 Shuts off with no warning...

the problem is not the battery; what has happened is the coolant paste that pulls the heat away from the cpu (main) chip to the fan has dried up. you must remove the fan/heat exchanger off the motherboard and, put new paste on the chips that the heat exchanger sits on
radio shack sells the paste

Looks like you need a new battery. Same thing happened with a DELL XPS, once the new battery was in place, all was fine.

Dell latidue D610

The light indicator for the battery is; green-charging, yellow-battery failure, and red-charging system failure. The charging system failure happens when the power management chip fails. The pm chip regulates and controls the power input & usage, allows the machine to switch from AC to battery, and cotrols the charging. This will also cause the problem with the power button not workin or being hard to start. Unfortunately, the motherboard will have to be replaced in order to fix this.
