Wouldn,t recommend it! very hairy job. you'd be better off getting a new, or good condition used machine to replace it! having a shop or repair person fix it could cost more than a new machine. don't know how old it is, but if more than 8-12 yrs. old- replace it!!
good luck!

How to change differential oil in an 89 toyota corolla FX-25, 5 door hatchback

Hi Mathew, The 89 Corolla usually has front wheel drive and a combined gearbox and differential. If the box is a manual it uses a 65 w 70 HP oil. If it is automatic it uses ATF in the gearbox which is usually also combined, but some have separate diffs and use the 65 w 70 in the diff section. Regards John

My rover 75 1.8 club has a hydrolic clutch but find it hard to change gear mainly down shifting

decent car the rover i like them anyway, now if vehicle is going into gear ok and the pedal bite is the right height then check the gearbox oil level EP90 oil is used for this never mind this thin stuff used on modern cars its not a lot of good regardless what the designers say ,a nice bit of thick hypoid oil is the best as its a diff and gearbox unit all in in one on front wheel drive car and no lubrication around the syncros and baulk rings will cause this problem ,if after topping up the gearbox and it goes noisy then pump some LM grease into the box about a grease gun full as this will end up in the bottom of the box and help stop any leaks along the bottom gasket or the drive shafts and help quieten the box ,yes i know its a arthur dailey type trick but it works ,well what do expect from a old truck fleet fitter like myself no dealer unit changer here

I have a leak coming from inside the bell housing of my transaxle leaking onto my clutch making it slip new clutch replaced less than a week ago and rear main seal replaced oil smells like gear oil (rotten...

There is an oil seal on the gearbox/transaxle input shaft. If this has failed it will leak oil on to the clutch. It might be able to be replaced by just removing the gearbox again to access the seal. Most likely though is, the gearbox will need to be opened up to replace it.

Leaky transfer case or gearbox. Oil covering front diff.

If the front differential is covered with oil, chances are that the leak is from the pinion seal on the diff itself or from an engine leak. check all the fluids and find what is low and clean off all the residue there so you can find the source. Since the t case is behind the diff, and the air flow is towards the rear (unless you drive backwards all day long) any leaks would tend to blow towards the back, not towards the front.Once you find the actual leak source, someone here can help advise you on how the repair can be made.

Front diff oil leak

remove entire trans, remove 8 bolts and then remove front differential case at this time you will need to remove torque convertor with tube do not remove this tube from the convertor it drive the oil pump, the gasket is liquid gasket make sure surface is clean, also at this time replace torque convertor seal and seal tube this tube seperates transmission fluid from gear oil good luck
